Your right about that Esther. That is rather disgraceful behaviour by the council, and obviously none of them appreciate the work involved. I think we have come to expect this from our councils these days.
The verge is so high with grass and cow parsley, that we can no longer see to go out in the car. I phoned to complain, so a cutter was sent urgently and he cut a 2 ft wide strip on one side of the drive only for about 12 yards. I had to get my husband to drive me to the neighbour's for my lift yesterday as I am frightened to let my friends drive out of here. I can't do it as I can't see more than a few yards. It is a very wide verge and two fields long, but the council think they are saving money. The boss is coming from King's Lynn to look at it. How much will this cost?

Thats not good about the cancellation Esther, typical council isn't it.
I remember the verges around your house cherry, they are wide, they should be cut regularly. The farmers do the verges up here.

The farmer across the road offered yesterday, but we pay rates so he should not have to do this. Farmers are contracted to do some of the paths and roads around here, but this part is classed as "highways". It is truly frightening to drive out on to the A10. I can only go left at present and turn right into the farmer's turnoff in order to come back to go to Downham Market. I just have to go when a break comes in the traffic, without knowing how far behind the next vehicle is. There is no hope of seeing a motor bike.
If I sound cross, I really am especially as a tiny strip was cut because I asked. We thought he had gone back to get a tractor which was man enough for the job, but no, he had p***ed off.

that is very bad Cherry, no wonder you are annoyed. We have similar problems here on our lanes at junctions

Yes, we do too. The County Council has stopped cutting verges completely.

Esther that's a real shame about Woking in Bloom, it seems stupid as well, with the amount of rain we've had everwhere recently the hosepipe ban probably hadn't had much of an effect on gardens, it's more likely an excuse to save the council some money.

Yes, we do too. The County Council has stopped cutting verges completely. The council have done the opposite here....cutting verges....repairing fences...re-laying roads...etc......all,for the dammmed Olympics

How come Lou? Is something special being held in your area? Norfolk don't have much to do for the Olympics. I think they are reinforcing the police presence.

It's been through our area - about 10 miles away, though, was the nearest it came to us. That was a couple of weeks ago.

You are right. No, I didn't want to go and see it go through either. I don't expect we'll watch the Olympics on TV. Too much hype!

I love watching sport & I'll probably watch quite a lot of the olympics although it's mainly the track & field events I prefer. Sometimes I end up getting drawn into watching things I would never normally watch because the British teams are doing well or there's a someone really engaging taking part.
