We must regard September as autumn, but there is still plenty of colour in the garden and even more to come.
When my computer broke down, Windows replaced Vista, and I find I can't upload photos to the forum. I thought I would be showing you my begonia basket which I photographed today. Someone may have a beautiful pic to start this thread.

I look forward to the 1st of the month, it is the only time we see photos of Cherry's garden. Lovely flowers Esther, that wouldn't be a tiny nibble out of your Datura would it? Why is it the most poisonous plants the pest like the best?

That is a lovely Begonia Cherry, I'm glad you managed to up-load it. I am warming to Begonias more and more. The hardy ones I was given have been flowering all summer in the most shady of places. They don't have big, blousey flowers but they definitely brighten up dark corners. I sowed some green manure (Phacelia tanacetifolia) in a veg bed, only three seeds germinated but they have grown into huge plants and are so pretty . . . . . . and the bees love them

Why is it the most poisonous plants the pest like the best? This is because your photos are always so good. Sometimes mine are better, usually worse and if you have put a pic on of something I have, that is fine by me. Hywel, of course you are right about the autumn dates, but the weather people use the beginning of the month and it saves autumn having to go on until 21st or 22nd December.

It's a lovely day here, so I'd rather not think about autumn, even though there are leaves to clear up. I do still have colour in my garden, but I'm having trouble with my laptop and Tinypic too. You really have posted some beautiful photos to start the month, and I love the Begonia pics particularly! If I can't grow Busy Lizzies in the shade, I shall carry on with Begonias, as I have this year. Is yours truly hardy, Wf?
