Had the tree man round yesterday to take stock of overgrown trees and shrubs, he won't be able to start work until January, due to a heavy workload, but it will be nice to get everything tamed, I had him do my bay tree when GW filmed so I know he does a good job. Did gardeners world film your garden grindle , did I miss that ? when was it ? I often imagine what others gardens are like full view ? My shrubs and trees are so out of control , I`love to dig them all out and start again.

My raspberries seem to have 'migrated' from where I planted them and are now overhanging the path, so I tidied the place where they were originally in readiness for transferring them back there after all the leaves have fallen. I found two that had spread quite a long way from 'home' ! and will be planting those back there also.
I tipped more compost from some tubs where I had annuals, into my raised bed, and scrubbed some dirty paving slabs on the path next to the raised bed. It's surprising how dirty they can get

I never thought I would be happy to get rid of plants but today I DID get rid of some very big and untidy Sedums and a big ugly Hypericum. They were all big and untidy. I transplanted some Wallflowers Primroses and an Astrantia into a more suitable place, and did some general tidying.

I cleared the greenhouse benches today and collected all the seed trays for washing and give the whole place a good brushing. I found several slugs and 5 more giant snails sticking to the side of seed trays UGH! I noticed large patches of green mossy stuff growing in the heater propagated under the clear plastic on top of it , I skimmed it off and will put down some dark plastic tomorrow. I will sow some seeds tomorrow.

cleared another small bed, moved an Inula as it was too big and replaced with some Hakonechloa, geranium nodosum and Omphalodes, put in some bulbs I had sitting in the greenhouse, pruned another shrub, that's a bit more done

I planted up 2 hanging baskets at the front door with bulbs & bedding & put a few of the summer plants from them in pots in the greenhouse for winter. Emptied a couple of pots from the greenhouse into the compost bins & picked some more tomatoes. I pulled out a dead tree from the end of the garden, it was a little rowan which I'd brought from our old house where it had been in a pot but although it had seemed to be doing O.K. in the ground here & was about 5ft tall it must have drowned in the occasional flooding & had suddenly turned brown & died, not much of a root ball on it when I pulled it up.

Not even fed the birds here yet this morning, too wet to go down the garden at all & we're both full of colds so I'm watching the rugby. Robin has been practically knocking on the patio doors though so I'll have to go out after the game!

Had a great day in the garden , decided I can't wait any longer and pulled up a lot of the summer bedding that was fading .The Cosmos are still going strong and can't bring myself to dump them yet but this morning's frost might finish them off. Still have a million ( slight exaggeration, just seems like it!! ) bulbs waiting to go in too.
