A few hrs later now its a lot cooler The weather report for most of next week is rain and more rain. That meant add the ferts around the Dahlias and areas in between and, then watered them in. I have been keeping all (3 large rubbish bins full) the tree leaves, to use as a mulch. Spread it all and gave it a good watering.
If we have as much rain as they predict it's going to be a big rest week.

Where is all the rain and so called storm still arriving later today. Now that has allowed me to work another 3hrs today about 2pm it was stinking hot and putting up with the flies. I have finished tying up the Dahlias one large area and started another area but the heat and flies got the best of me.
Tomorrow I hope to finish one area and start on the main garden. Latest report 3pm heavy showers then rain. All I can say is no work but good for the garden
I just checked the Temp only 29c no wonder I was getting hot

Just feeding the birds, and putting out some fresh water to replace the ice in the water dish. Too cold to do anything else.

I started pruning the roses on Monday & was hoping to carry on yesterday but it was misty & wet all day, looks like today may be the same so might just have to settle for watching the birds & planning indoors.

I was thinking about pruning too SueA, but I have to keep remionding myself it's only January and we could yet get snow and hard frosts so I'm resisiting temptation. Going to plant some late Alliums instead...and order some Begonias

I managed to prune the rest of the roses yesterday although I'll probably come across one I've missed somewhere. I've pruned mine Rosie because you're supposed to do it in winter when the roses are dormant & mine never really are nowadays, they always have leaves & buds or flowers on them but at the moment they look a bit quiet with new leaf buds just coming through so I've taken the chance to tidy them up a bit.

Its not raining or hot. That means I can finish off feeding the two tomato plants 1 mini Roma and 1 Cherry . Picking on average 10 tomatoes a day
Edit several hrs later. I pruned out a lot of small branches with no flowers by doing this I could see into the bush as it was extremely thick. By doing all that I picked 40+ ripe tomatoes. Many very ripe they are going into the Tuna salad tonight.

That was a nice surprise keith finding all those tomatoes! I did find a couple of roses I'd forgotten at the end of the garden down by the pond when I went down there yesterday so I pruned them a little & tidied a few tall dead plants alongside the pond so that I could get down the path, didn't want to cut everything back though as I saw the frog & don't want to tempt the local cats to start sitting down there chasing it. Went in the greenhouse & cut all the dead, mouldy leaves off the plants in there, looks tidier now.
