I took this photo in St Peter's churchyard in Carmarthen, when I was stranded there this afternoon ...

Sorry about the quality but I grabbed this pic with my phone for convenience, It's said that Magnolias don't like being pruned, but where this one is it has to be, it has about 2 foot width of garden in between our front path and next doors garden and so out of necessity has been fan trained and yet every year it is covered top to bottom in flowers

Carmarthen looks beautiful @hywel. The houses are lovely in different colours and, of course, the daffodils are lovely. I could think of worse places to be stranded. steve your garden is a picture and the Magnolia really is covered from top to toe with beautiful blossoms.

Fantastic blossom Cherry & magnolia steve - that proves not all 'rules' about gardening are set in stone! That churchyard looks very neat @hywel , there is one in Knutsford which we pass quite often which has lovely plantings of spring bulbs too, mainly crocuses.

My peach tree....snug and safe from frosts and marauding birds....I have been tickling the blooms with a soft brush over the past week or so

Lou78W Your peach tree looks like an exotic indoor plant, far too lovely to be an outside fruit tree. Try to imagine my upbringing on a large orchard growing peaches, cherries, apples and others. It brings back memories, also of the daisies which grew underneath which are different to the type here. It is now a housing estate, each with a fruit tree.

That sounds a lovely place to grow up Cherry. Pity it's been built on, but it's nice that each house has its own fruit tree now
Here's a Polygala now in flower :-

Pretty little plant. Is the flower at the back typical @hywel? It has orange and pink in the bud.
There were two reservoirs and the land was left vacant around these for many years, probably because of possible (probable) subsidence. I sometimes google the streetview along there to see what is happening. There were orchards for miles and it could be lonely to a child today, but I read books by the creek always away from snake territory and I belonged to the YAF. (Young Anglican Fellowship).

The flowers tend to go a browny colour when they finish, and that's what you can see in the background.
