We need a bit of fun Cat that is why I think I will grow a fimbriated in some numbers next year. Either hapet perfect or one of the normandie ones I think. The normandie ones that John willot has raised some are insane looking ones like tangles etc....

Fimbles ? Cat look at normandie tangles , twist another called le feu de soleil . I think I might try normandie twist. When you Google them it is normandie with the ie there is other dahlias called Normandy but different raiser. I like the name of one called mish mash. Been offered it as well.

Some of my cheap & cheerful dahlias in the garden. Bishop of Llandaff Rebecca's World - more white than the last bloom Lady Darlene - facing the fence again for some reason! Radjah - got this for £2.50 from a small nursery.

Little update: You don't see them often and quite a few people that sell dahlias don't even include them. Single and double dahlias yes but not the little puffs. I think that anemone dahlias are a bit of a unrealised rough diamond, as people tend to grow either exhibition quality ones or regular dwarf garden dahlias. Collerette dahlias seem to have been enjoying a lot more attention but poor old Anemone, is just left behind like Cinderella. (n.b. I am not saying that other types are the big ugly sisters or Buttons for that matter). It is a shame really because they look really pretty and the butterflies and bees absolutely love them! Took these of Dad's this morning. He has a few anemone seedlings but doesn't really know what to do with them. I took a few photos, might put some here or maybe in my Purple Wellies Diary. Dad told me that he won't be growing these next year bit of a shame but there you go. They are his seedlings. Problem for him is, he needs to use the space for his other potential seed parents for example, if you are trying to get a really good semi cactus you don't want it to cross with an anemone. Dahlia crosses like ball, pom or even a dec wouldn't be such a problem but you wouldn't want an Anemone or a collerette in the mix.

I suppose you have to be ruthless sometimes Moonlight ... I hope your dad is successful in breeding a semi cactus Dahlia. It would be interesting to hear how he gets on
