This thread is intended for those of us who grow dahlias to enjoy in our gardens; whether they be bought as tubers in a bag from the Garden Centre or as plants; and they can be grown from your own seeds....there are plenty of options. There are some lovely examples out there, lets see them!! The reason I have started this thread is that there are more than enough threads for the serious grower who want to post their pics and ask for advice from other experienced growers, and some forum members feel a bit intimidated and are reticent to post their photos. We are not looking for perfection here, just pretty dahlias.....the serious growers are welcome to look in and admire our efforts, but please do not make comments on methods of growing, form etc., unless asked. I'll start the ball rolling with a few of my colourful seedlings...

Your seedlings look a great display in the background Tel next year if I do not show I might go to Stuttgart and see the 3000 dahlia display garden they have.

I'll start the ball rolling with a few of my colourful seedlings... The reason why I posted the photos of the anemone dahlias was because I had seen yours Lou78W. You don't see them often and quite a few people that sell dahlias don't even include them. Single and double dahlias yes but not the little puffs. I think that anemone dahlias are a bit of a unrealised rough diamond, as people tend to grow either exhibition quality ones or regular dwarf garden dahlias. Collerette dahlias seem to have been enjoying a lot more attention but poor old Anemone, is just left behind like Cinderella. (n.b. I am not saying that other types are the big ugly sisters or Buttons for that matter). It is a shame really because they look really pretty and the butterflies and bees absolutly love them! Took these of Dad's this morning. He has a few anemone seedlings but doesn't really know what to do with them. I took a few photos, might put some here or maybe in my Purple Wellies Diary.

They are rather lovely Moonlight. I got my original one from Tel but can't remember the name. I have seen them at Harrogate set out in baskets....and they looked rather good, as do the Colleretts displayed this way.

I grew this last year came in a bag of tubers from poundworld . Did not keep it but looked nice in a pot was very leggy though. Got ryecroft marge and ryecroft Jim here not flowered yet. They got hit by spider mites so quarantined at the mo and being treated. Looking a lot better so hopefully flowers soon. I had pasodoble but gave to a friend.

I like this thread as I rarely read the 'proper' dahlia sections as I get bogged down in the technicalities & am only really interested in pretty dahlia photos & suggestions for ones for the garden rather than perfection & those for showing.

Beautiful Dahlias everyone ! I love them but haven't got room for any now, unless I grow them in pots. However, I've never had any success by growing them that way.
