lovely photos both, my Claude Shride has been got at by slugs That's the only one of mine which has grown properly grindle , don't know what happened to the other two, they came up & then the tops went limp & brown & keeled over & they're all in the same pot together, the slugs did have a go when they first came up though.

Sorry to hear about your slug damage grindle and SueA. They don't seem so bad here this year for some reason but one of my cacti has been attacked and I've had to put slug pellets down around them. I don't mind using slug pellets so much inside the Perspex shelter where my cacti are. No birds etc go in there.

You would think slugs wouldn't fancy cacti because of the spines & tough 'skins' but obviously that hasn't put them off yours! We haven't had as many slugs & snails (yet!) here Eli this year as it's been too hot & dry for them but they have jumped onto new growth on a few things as soon as we've had a few drops of rain. Lots of plants have appeared this year & done well which normally get destroyed by the weather or the slugs so I can't complain.

My Hypericum which was planted in this shady part of the back yard started flowering the other day just in time to get battered by the wet weather. however it will be fine and continue to flower through the summer.

WOO HOO its been a while but the Liriodendron (Tulip tree) has finally started flowering. Apparently it takes around 25 years before they start flowering so now we know roughly how old it is. (we have two in the garden) I took a close up of the lowest flower so will post it later when I download it.

Wow, your summer bedding plants are WAY ahead of mine. Mine are only just getting past the 'garden ready plug plant' size! That's an amazing golden-yellow rose. Do you know what it's called? I haven't got a yellow one yet

Fluffy cornflowers just coming out now, I have managed to get a good mix of colour this year - Lady Marmalade (bought it last year after ogling the plants of various other forum members!) This seems to prefer it's shadier spot under another rose bush... Astrantia My favourite hanging basket looking back at me
