So nice to see Summer returning to the gardens, some lovely pics. Geranium what do you mean re. the Centauera needing a 'health warning'? Also what's that in WF's pond, a broad leaved plant next to the Caltha?

I'd say that all Centaurea need a health warning ! They are very invasive, Merlin. As are the upright Campanula - they're definately in the same category - i pull handfuls out by the roots all the time, infact i was lying in bed earlier thinking how i'll remove them soon because of it.

I bought one last year, it's in a small spot with a pond on one side and a path on the other. I take it that you mean it spreads sideways, if so I may get rid after it's flowered. I also have 'upright campanula' (white) I've sunk a bottomless tub around it !! As I get older I'm going off misbehavers.

Love the Banksian Rose Geranium. That is one of my favourites, but would not grow here.
Good pics.

Thanks, all - Cherry, what a shame. One of my neighbours has an immense banksian rose against her barn wall. It's a joy to see. Mine is only a tiddler compared with hers! Merlin - I inherited that Centaurea, and it had covered an area at least 10 ft square. It has roots to Australia and even if you think you've got them out, back it comes, or pops up further along the border. I have it down to about 3' x 3' now, but I'll still have to keep an eye on the stray shoots. I think I may resort to weedkiller! I only leave it because the flowers are so lovely, and it flowers twice. Do you mean Campanula glomerata, the purple one, Louise? If you do, I completely agree with you. It's definitely invasive.

There are not a lot of variegated plants which I like. My lily of the valley is nice and Weigela florida, but that solomon's seal is just lovely Steve.

Thanks Geranium, I think I'll try putting it in a large pot

I mean glomerata Kent Belle, Alba and Sorastro I also mean punctata Wedding Bells And persicifolia Boule de Neige. All these upright ones grow like weeds here and i'm beginning to regret planting them. You'd never believe that such poor soil would make so many things grow like that, would you I could add to the list too

Goodness - that's amazing! If you split any, think of me, won't you. ( NOT C. glomerata, though, thanks.)
