It is a nuisance Geranium, but I think we are getting on top of them, there hasn't been a mouse since yesterday afternoon. Didn't widget do well, all those scary things and he came through with flying colours

Indeed what a transformation, it looks beautiful. how lond did it take rosie and did you resort to weedkiller. It took me 2 growing seasons to do it and not a spot of weedkiller ladybird, it was all taken out by hand. I did most of the digging, thats why it took so long. Graham put in the wooden posts and we put tight wires between them, there are climbing roses and clematis at the back of the bed so hopefully it'll be covered in flowers eventually

We are surrounded by fields dianthus. Some have been after the bird food but others just went for my plants, esp in the polytunnel. We are up to 17 caught now. We have old terraced walls in the garden where they make their home, we intend to cement up all the gaps.

It wasn't a snappy trap, Rosie, it's a tube with an open end, you put poisoned bait in it and the rat comes in and ...curtains. They apparently go elsewhere to expire, as you don't find the corpse in the tube. (Thank goodness!) Yesterday, my 'swan song', went very well. The group came from all across Somerset as they are 'The Somerset Country Garden Club' so we had a lot of cars to put somewhere. OH was on car park duty and he managed it really well. The weather threatened once or twice but fortunately the rain just about stayed away so brollies weren't needed. There were 30 of them, and being gardeners, they appreciated my plants and planting, not like a 'Joe Public' visit when people tend to look generally, not at specific plants. They asked all sorts of questions still, but they were a delightful group of people. They were here from 1.45 until the last person left at 5 ish. We haven't been able to put all the furniture back in place yet, but all the washing up is done. Yes, you're welcome to a piece of apple cake, there is some left! I took down the large yellow NGS sign off the gate with a sigh of relief. Graham uses poison boxes in the garage, he doesn't want the old cars being eaten, Andy, our son in law lost the steering wheel of his 1979 mini to mice, they chewed up the whole steering weheel. I'm glad your final opening went well Geranium, you have done so much over the years. PS, I'l have a bit of apple cake too
