Welcome Ant, I love your 'avatar' pic. Good luck with your allotment! My 'avatar' picture is what I'm going to try and achieve in part of my allotment...took some verbena bonariensis cuttings in the autumn and got plenty of rudbeckia 'Indian Summer' and 'Prairie Sun' seeds to sow.

A good climbing rose really suited to some shade is zephirine drouhin the fragrance is to die for but does suffer from disease as its a really old variety or a climbing hydrangea?(may be grows to thick).. Plenty of clematis to choose from?

I use alfalfa pellets for my hostas, just spread a few pellets over the surface of the soil or pots and water them in...will be trying them on the allotment this year. Buy mine from the local stables.

Just put my 2nd order in with halls of heddon, after the 1st went in early to get the 10% discount...33 different varieties to see the type that I really like and that grow well for me on the allotment!... Will be a few years before I can match or even come close to the beauties I see posted on here but I love a challenge! Also ordered a few tubers to get some of my own cuttings going.
