Went on the allotment this morning and cut most of my flowers for Southport show.Decided to leave the rest of the cutting till this evening rather than do it in the hot sun this afternoon.
The weeds are getting rather bad so I had a weeding session this afternoon,just pulling up large weeds before they seed.They were mainly thistles,fat hen,redleg,groundsel ,willow herb and shaggy soldier.Also tied up the gladioli
This evening I cut the rest of the flowers from the allotment and then from my own garden.

Been staging at Southport show this afternoon and evening.I have entered 12 classes,all general cut flowers including the flower championship class which calls for 9 vases of 6 flowers.
It poured with rain and water came into the tent but not as bad as at Knowsley last week.I was paddling in water though as I was staging my flowers.I was glad to get home and get my wet socks off. Will let you know tomorrow how I went on.

At Southport I got 2 firsts,5 seconds and 4 thirds from my 12 entries. I won with 3 vases of annuals and with sunflowers.I will show you some pictures now but some of them are a bit dark.

There were only 5 vases of chrysanths at Southport and 4 of those were sprays

 This is a class for 6 perennial flowers .8 entries in the class and I came 2nd with my golden rod which are on the right on the back row. |

That's all the pictures.Why I couldn't show you them yesterday I don't know.
Today I have washed all the potatoes I dug up last Sunday and Monday and sorted some more out for showing.Spread these out in the kitchen to dry but all the rest are in trays in the greenhouse.
