Today I have been on the allotment morning and evening just carrying on with the weeding.This evening it was a toss-up between the allotment and the veg meeting but I thought I had better make the most of this fine weather we are having and I won't be able to go tomorrow till evening.
This afternoon I had just about an hour spare so I picked the rest of the apples and pears that Alan had left on Saturday.

Did some more weeding on the allotment this morning. Rosemary needed the car this afternoon so I stayed at home.Began preparing for the show on Saturday.Sorted the potatoes and onions and apples that I will be taking.The pears are not good enough as they are badly marked.Also tidied up the pot plants that I am likely to be taking.

Went to the allotment for the veg for Tottington show and sorted most of it out.One class I like at this show is for a basket of vegetables.This is the only show I go to where they have this class. I made this basket up this evening.
Tomorrow I will be cutting all the flowers.

I have cut all my flowers from the allotment and my own garden,finished sorting the veg and loaded the car ready for an early start tomorrow.Could do with an elastic car -can't get anything else in.I have entered all the dahlia classes except medium decs (my Alf's mascot are coming daisy eyed )and min decs (I don't grow any of these).There is a class for 3 vases of 3 and I am going to put Rose Jupiter,and possibly L'ancresse and I think the other will have to be poms(one extreme to an other ).One problem with dahlias at this show is that I may be against Ian Sutherland (who some of you know)which means I am likely to get all seconds and thirds.

I got a kiss from a lady accross the road this morning She came running accross and said "I have come to tell you how beautiful your flowers are and I am going to give you a kiss".She must have meant the flowers in the garden and the baskets and tubs because it was before I went to the allotment for flowers for the show.It's nice when your efforts are appreciated. I thought it was time I showed you some pictures in my garden so I am going to show you a few now. |
