Did fairly well at Tottington show.Put 69 exhibits in and got 25 firsts,18seconds and 12 thirds. Got most points in the show 'I have been to this show 15 times and won this every time. Also most points in veg classes,best exhibit in roses,chrysanths ,begonias and general flower classes.
I thought my gladioli were good but two specialist gladioli growers came and all I got was a third with a vase of three.
With dahlias ,besides Ian Sutherland there were two other spacialist growers who don't normally come so there were a lot of entries.I still got three firsts though.I won with Taratahi Ruby,Willos violet and a vase of mixed dahlias for all round effect.There was only me in this class though.I didn,t get time to do the 3 vase class but I wouldn't have won anything as there were already 3 good exhibits .One won Ian the silver medal.

Well done Derek, I love the mixed flowers & the basket of mixed veg., I think they should have that class at all the shows.

Thanks for all those comments. Staging at Tottington is Saturday morning but Ian Sutherland is allowed to stage Friday night so his flowers are already on the bench when we arrive.On Saturday morning he goes to Ireland judging so he doesn't come to Tottington to see what he has won and to get his prize money and his silver medal.I don't think I could do that.I like seeing what I have won.Don't know whether anybody gets his money and medal for him or not.
Today I have had no gardening time till this evening but I managed an hour on the allotment before it went dark doing some more weeding.
I have no show next weekend .The next one is Edenfield ,where I went on August 11th ,which is a week on Saturday.Tottington and Edenfield are not far from each other,at the other side of Bury.

Today I have potted some Shasta daisies from cell trays into thrre and a half inch pots and thinned out some lettuce in cell trays.I have been to the re-cycling centre with 10 sacks of weeds and done some more weeding.

I was at Blackleach this morning and it was sunny one minute and pouring with rain the next.I therefore decided it was too risky to go on the allotment this afternoon and evening.I decided to do some weeding in my own garden then I could dash into the greenhiuse if it started raining.
While in the greenhouse I took about 40 cuttings of pinks.
No gardening tomorrow bacause we are going on a coach trip to Chatsworth in Derbyshire.

Had a morning on the allotment but called at school first to feed the tomatoes as I have been doing every Thursday.
Cut a lot of runner beans.I have no show this weekend .Couldn't leave them till the next show because they would be beany by then. Rosemary can freeze some for our Christmas dinner.Spent the rest of the time weeding.
Didn't have as much time this afternoon but I did some weeding in my own garden.
