Your right there Sue. ;D You would have thought he would have made sure his ticket came out first, after all the trouble of making such a nice basket of veg up. ;D

My computer is finally up and running again ,thank goodness. It needed a new cable. There were about 100 emails waiting for me ,mostly rubbish.I can now catch up with the forum again!Since my last post I have mainly been tidying up the garden ,removing finished bedding plants and carrying on tidying the plants in the greenhouse. On the allotment I have also been tidying up and doing more weeding. This afternoon I have mowed the lawns for the last time this year and scarified them.

Dry today so I had an afternoon on the allotment.Dug up the gladioli and gave them to somebody on another plot.I always buy new corms every year because I find them more reliable and they are not dear to buy.Got rid of more annuals that have finished and spent the rest of the time weeding the beds.

it was showery this morning but I went on the allotment and managed to finish weeding a bed I was doing yesterday. It was raining most of the afternoon so I started planting winter baskets.I plant these under the car port.I did two for a neighbour and two for our daughter who lives in Wales. We are going to Wales for the weekend so we can take her baskets. When doing baskets in the summer I use a lot of plants I had grown myself from seed or cuttings but at this time of year I have to buy most of them.I had kept some ivies from last year but had to buy the rest.Got a lot of pansies from B&Q last Wednesday (you get 10% discount on a Wednesday)and some other plants from a local garden centre such as lamiums, euonymus and grasses. This evening I have been to the meeting of Salford and Bolton fuchsia society. The talk wasn,t about fuchsias though. It was a man talking about Denton chrysanthemum and dahlia society but it was mostly about chrysanths .

Raining most of the morning but dry in afternoon.Only had an hour and a half spare but I went to the allotment. It was too wet for weeding so I just cleared a bed of annuals then I can weed it when the ground is drier. The weeds have been so bad this year that I am clearing the beds of annuals early then I can have more time to tackle the weeds.

Dry today except for a shower.I decided to carry on with lawn maintainance.I forked the back lawn .I push the fork in about 6 inches and about 6 inches apart.I then spread coarse sand over it and brushed it into the holes to help drainage. It is hard work though and I am tired now and I still have the front lawn to do.It is only half the size, thank goodness.

I am in Wales on my grandson' computer at present. We came yesterday with Martyn, our son. The reason he came with us is because we are celebrating a special birthday that Rosemary has tomorrow. We are staying in a B&B at Beddgelert for two nights which is about 8 miles from Porthmadog where Heather, our daughter and grandchildren live.Martyn is paying for the B&B for Rosemary's birthday.Heather and family came to Beddgelert and joined us for a nice meal last night. We came to Porthmadog today and have been a ride with Heather to Abersoch, about 20 miles away.but called at some other nice places on the way., and also a garden centre. Everywhere we go we look for garden centres. All I bought though were some daffodils. We have picked the right weekend for weather because it is lovely. We are going home tomorrow but if the weather is still nice we will go somewhere on the way home.Martyn wants to go to Penrhyn Castle which is near Bangor.I brought Heather the winter hanging baskets that I did for her and am taking home the summer ones. Last Friday, the day before we came I couldn't get on the forum due to a technical fault at B.T. and it still hadn't been made right on Saturday morning. I hope it has been corrected when I get home.If you don't hear any more from me for a few days you will know that there is still a problem.

A happy birthday to Rosemary. I have enjoyed reading your garden diary. As I don't know much about white rust on Chrysanthemums, I looked it up. I wonder whether you have ever tried the hot water treatment for it? It is mentioned in the "Non-chemical control" section of this page: apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=560

Thanks for this,Marynz,.I have looked up the reference but I have no facilities for doing hot water treatment. You have to have a tank of water that you keep at a certain temperature and it has to be accurate .if not it either does no good or kills the stools.I did try it when I worked in a laboratory because we had such a tank with a heater in .
