So have you effectively cut an edge away out from the stones? I have done this where I have used logs as an edge. I love your stones as much as the plants.

Thats exactly what i did Cherry, it means the edging shears are easier to use and the mower goes pretty close in. I will take a picture today of the stones we dug, well Graham dug!, out of the newest bed...i have to keep chasing mountain climbers off it
