I was one who thought they would never replace books....but your original query got me thinking....so I have to thank you I was lucky I had a lot of nectar points which more or less paid for it.....and I have ordered a nice leather cover to keep it in...... It also means I have thousands and thousands of books to choose from without having to go to the library ;D Do you get a comprehensive list? By title, author, subject? How does it work then?

My youngest son just finished his Biggles collection. He paid £1,000 for the last two books which he could not afford before. They have taken his whole life to collect, and he opened a bottle of good champagne when he completed the collection. His idea of a good holiday was to visit Ross-on-Wye.

Well worth a visit even if you're not into books. What a nice achievement, worth celebration.

Kindles are very convenient, but there's nothing like seeing a collection of books on a shelf, I love the libraries in the big houses you can visit, and there is a smell all of it's own

We bought a 'bug' book for 7 yr old grandson, and I made him smell the lovely new book first. I love the smell of new books and new money, but I had no spare money for him to smell. However, I do agree Grindle, that the smell of old books is special.
