That was good Lesley and reading your post it seems that we all know what we should do. Is your knee doing exercises too or do you have to modify them? Yes Cherry my knee is doing some exercise with a bit of modification, my teacher gives me an alternative if she thinks it's not suitable.

This year I thought I might like to loose the 2 stone that the experts tell me I should'nt be carrying around. Too wise to get involved in that diet stuff. Going to eat, hopefully sensibily, but use exercise to shift what I can. If it goes it goes. The other thing some of you may not know is the following based on personal experience. Giving up smoking (although a difficult thing to achieve) is much easier when you have convinced yourself it's the right thing for you to do. Until you are in that zone you are only torturing yourself and are probably better off not kicking the habit. I can convince my self that, but it doesn't last long , kids went back to school today, still smoking . Ive had a hectic stress full day though.

Have you tried nicotine patches, and those little sticks you puff on - my son used those and he doesn't smoke now.

Yup in the past . Last time i stopped coffee took there place (but now caffeine is bad for me and i cannot have too much). Keeping busy makes me smoke less so maybe when I'm outside more gardening that will help .

You will notice absolutely no difference Floydie, My daughter loved 'normal' coffee and even she has switched to decaf ;D

Green tea is meant to be esp good for you. I do notice if i have any ordinary coffee or tea, even chocolate can make a difference with me, luckily i can live quite happily without it.

When i used to drink lots of coffee(and i mean lots) i ended up with an accelerated heart beat (my heart is already faster than average), i ended up having various tests on my heart . Been fine since i switched back to tea (still drink far too much ). I cannot do with decaf unfortunately, i used to/tried to drink it when i was expecting i found it left a bitter after taste. Plus i need a boost to get me through the day otherwise I'm very lethargic. Id have to find something else to replace smoking........

One thing i would like to do for myself after the new years hectic activity is over is stop smoking , but i find this hard as OH and our friend (who may as well live here!) both smoke :S. If you really want to give up Floydie it can be done. My OH smokes, so do most of our friends and I managed it. SP had it right, you don't try to give up, you become a non smoker, there is a huge difference.
