I've just been sorting out some more tubers to pot up and I noticed a few have shoots on them. These are not the ones I wanted to pot up and was hoping just to replant them when the weather warms up. What should I do with them now? You could divide the tubers up, pot them up and just keep them ticking over, somewhere frost free.

Question for Tel, I am grwing Amber Festival this year, how many up and what kind of stopping to flower 'days' does it normally have. Plan was to grow it 7 up and presumably being a small about 60 days I would think ? Have you ever grown them in pots ? if so would I be looking at growing them about 4 up ? Mark Question 1. I find that the festivals do not seem to be has quick to flower as my other small Decs, i find mine need 70 days after stopping. Question 2. i grow mine 6 up, otherwise i find they do not match my other small decs for size. Question 3. grow 4 up.

Mark I forgot to mention Mark, the foliage of the Festivals is just like Charlie Two, the side shoots from the main stems can be a foot long from the bottom of the plant and could still be hidden. This would also reduce the size of the bloom.

I took my second batch of dahlia cuttings today Yours are doing well Derek, mine are a bit slower than than yours. Not to bothered though at this stage, if i have some for the early shows all well and good. This year, is a big push just for Harrogate, even if i miss earlier shows, this time. The only cuttings i have taken so far is Ruskin Respectable, for WF.

None of my overwintered tubers have survived the cold spell in the GH...in previous years I've had them in dry compost in the shed over winter but got caught napping this year. This year I'll prolly just start with Bishop of Llandaff from seed...my favourite so far. I have grown the massive ones from tubers, but haven't really got the room. Lovely too see other peoples' ones tho...I see that there is a wealth of experience on here...I'll know where to come for help

I have stored my ground tubers in a unheated greenhouse on the allotment since 1993, and this is the first time after checking them this morning i have lost them all. Thankfully my pot tubers were stored in the greenhouse at home frost free.. You mentioned in your post, you are going to grow Bishop of Llandaff from seed, the only seed i know of is the Bishops Children, Bishop of Llandaff stock come from propagating cuttings, and some of that stock is debatable if it is Bishop of Llandaff. Your on the wrong forum, for advise on dahlias we only pretend to have any knowledge on the subject.

ooer....wonder what I got then? prolly just red Bishop's Children ? I bought the seed in 2009 and can't remember where from...it would have been either Chilterns, D T Browns, Marshalls or Nicky's Nurseries....
