Your not on your own, when it comes to loosing dahlia tubers. I have stored my ground tubers in a unheated greenhouse on the allotment since 1993, and this is the first time after checking them this morning i have lost them all. Thankfully my pot tubers were stored in the greenhouse at home frost free.. You mentioned in your post, you are going to grow Bishop of Llandaff from seed, the only seed i know of is the Bishops Children, Bishop of Llandaff stock come from propagating cuttings, and some of that stock is debatable if it is Bishop of Llandaff. Your on the wrong forum, for advise on dahlias we only pretend to have any knowledge on the subject. Tel is just having you on...this is the best forum for advice on dahlia growing.....he is the "top man" ;D ;D You will change your mind after you have read the beer corner Lou. lol

Do you think I'd be able to get any cuttings from this? It was the only tuber my Dark Angels produced. How is your Dark Angel doing WF?

When I unpacked my dahlia order, two of the 'City of Rotterdam' had broken up in transit - they were left with one tuber on each plant. I rang Parker's today and they're sending me two new ones. The ones in the propagator are really doing well.
Please kind sir, how long should the pots stay in there now they've started sprouting?

Do not know who the kind sir is you are referring too, so i will have to do, until one of the other kind sirs or ladies turn up. First of all, do you intend to take cuttings from them? if the answer is yes, unless your greenhouse is heated to a minimum of 10c you will have to leave them in the propagator. Take the cuttings when they are 2 to 4inch high, the cuttings will need bottom heat, they should take about 14 days depending on the thickness of the cutting, to root at this time of year.

Well, Tel, the answer is no, I'm not going to take cuttings. So - same question - how long should I leave the pots in the propagator please? I have a layer (extra sides) that slots in and makes the height double - so the shoots won't touch the lids.
Should I turn the thermostat down once all the dahlias in there have sprouted?

In that case you can take them out, keep them frost free.

After the frost as blackened the foliage dig them up and keep just like all other dahlias.
