Which one is it? You might have said already, sorry if my memory's let me down again. Well, I finally managed to get my order in to Beeches Nursery. The boss-man seems to be the only one who knows where the plants are - I almost feel like offering to go down and sort them out into alphabetical order for them! Anyway, the courier should arrive on Tuesday. ;D

Oh boy! I bought 3 Paw Paw Exotica, Heliconia 'Black Magic', Etlingera Elatior 'Evita's Rose', Etlingera 'Red Torch', Costus Chartacosa (I have to look this one up) and Costus 'Vargassi'. This last one is gorgeous. It has spiralling stems of leaves with maroon backs. We had a real job to get them home on the ferry. I thought I saw one of these in Bernie's garden. Cherry, you're making me wish hubby's company would be moving him to australia instead of nz

I'm making up for not being able to buy any plants all those months! ;D I went off up the M5 yesterday (with my vouchers) and a list of possibles for the shaded area under the apple tree, and bought three Hellebores, three Dryopteris, three Asplenium, one pot of Cyclamen hederifolium (the last one they had ) a small Carex and also another packet of Alliums for the new border, and three Heuchera 'Berry Smoothie'.

All hardy and very pretty Geranium. Thank you - the Heucheras are 'dot' plants repeated along the new border. The others are now planted in the shaded area. I had two Euonymus japonicus 'Albomarginatus' which grew from a small plant I had in a container for a couple of years. It got too large to leave in, so I removed it in September, and split it into two. I was going to sell them next June, but they're perfect for the new planting, so that's where they've ended up. The new Hydrangea seemanni arrived yesterday, so I planted that too. THere's still a lot of empty bed to fill, but obviously I want to add plants for all-year interest - and I'd like more Cyclamen hederifolium in there if I can find any.

Yesterday morning it was grey but not raining, so I rang several Nurseries/GCs to see if they had any Cyclamen hederifolium. I struck lucky at my favourite place, so as OH was away for a couple of days, I toodled off down into Devon and bought 6 more Cyclamen. I had a little list of shade plants, and found 3 small Hellebore 'Niger', a lovely Skimmia japonica 'Emerald King' and a Liriope, which was amongst the grasses...perfect! It's called L. spicata 'Silver Dragon'. It had started raining while I was there, and it was dark when I got home, so I couldn't plant them. I'll take photos when I do!

We made our first visit to the Manchester Christmas Markets last night & I bought an amaryllis/hippeastrum bulb called 'Night Star' for £4, they had lots of different varieties & they were 3 for £10 but I thought I'd restrain myself! ;D Can't see much online about 'Night Star' but it looks pretty, starry shape with creamy white petals with dark pink central stripe, that's if it turns out like that, the boxes are open & people tend to mix the bulbs up. Photo of one of the stalls selling bird food & decorations.
