I bought a pack of 3 lily 'Cocktail Twins' for £1.99 & mixed Sparaxis for £1.29 from Lidl along with a new decorative wooden birdhouse for £7.99. Oooh they sound nice. Speaking of Liddle - my local branch has a bunch of hyacinth bulbs in diddy little 1" seed pods. The bulbs have grown hugely, and are sticking WELL out of the top of the pots. As a consequence, they are attractively priced at £0.59 each. I may take a £10 note there this weekend the Washing Machine continues to impress. I washed my trainers in it the other day. They've come out LOVERLY and clean !

Well that's good to hear you've got shiny trainers roofgardener! Aldi also have a nice selection of summer bulbs in right now. I bought a pack of peachy coloured Gladioli, I can't remember the exact price but it was something like 20 corms for £1.30. Other than that, mostly just buying pretty primroses as they catch my eye

Well, I bought 10 of the Hyacinth pots from Liddle on Saturday. I planted them on Sunday, and the landlady came round and said "oh, I really don't like Hyacinths".
So I hit her over the head and buried her near the runner bean patch using my shiny new spade !
Oh.. did I mention my shiny new spade ? I didn't BUY it... but rather was given it by my Dad as a present. It's really nice. It has a narrow blade, perfect for doing the borders.
I've decided to call it.... Mr Spade !

Not really a 'purchase' but I received 5 free (p&p only) cactus type dahlias from G.World mag./T&M yesterday, although named they don't appear to be labelled individually so I think I'll just pot them up & move them around in the border depending on the colours.

I've just potted mine up sue, it's a shame they didn't label them

I've just pricked mine out. Its sometimes nice to "wait and see" what colours they are..unless you need a specific colour for a display; that's why I grow most of mine in pots
