I was going to go to a rare plant fair at Ness Botanic gardens yesterday but it was snowed off! Received the free Zephirine Drouhin rose from T&M today, doesn't look very promising, very tiny & dead looking but hopefully it will spring into life when planted out & when the weather picks up. I might just stick it in a pot for now. Mine is the same Sue, it looks very sorry for it's self

It has got some green under the bark so it should be O.K. I think, I've just put it in a large pot with a mix of homemade & bought compost & fish , blood & bone. Didn't you plant yours out in the ground just the other week Rosie, I bet you haven't seen it since under the snow! Your purchases look great Geranium, I'm always wary of buying anything 'rare' in case it doesn't survive here but I thought the Ness plant fair might have something 'local' as it's not a great distance from here.

I think they must have been worried about sending these free roses out because they look small & weedy. I got a letter a few weeks ago saying there was a delay because they hadn't come up to standard & they were waiting to send them out so maybe they just waited to see if there were any signs of life in them.

Beautiful selection Geranium. I am very impressed with the iris. Thank you, Cherry. So am I! I think 'rare' is an over statement, Sue. The plants tend to be things that GCs don't stock, so to get them you'd have to order them online otherwise, and how would you know about them to start with? I think 'unusual' might be a better description.

I went to a HPS plant fair at East Lambrook Manor garden yesterday. It was really good - about twice the number of Nurseries there as there were at Wells. I bought some plants of course, and there are several I've never come across before.
Heloniopsis orientalis and Synthris missourica are both little woodland plants. My list is downstairs, so I'll tell you what else I bought later.

I got a pink Hepatica nobilis, a Pseudowintera colorata 'Red Leopard', two pots of Scilla bifolia, an Eryngium 'Blue Sapphire', three tiny pots of Primula sieboldii 'Alba' and a Geranium phaeum 'Lily Lovell'. ;D

They look pretty Geranium. I haven't 'bought' anything but my free red gala apple tree from GYO magazine arrived yesterday & I'll have to try & find a big pot to plant it in for now.

That is the best of both worlds Geranium. A plant fair and East Lambrook Manor too. Lucky you. You must have had a great time.

I got 72 Snapdragons from T&M, potted them all up on Sunday, then the farm cat got in the tunnel and knocked a tray of 36 over
