Nice plant, like the colour of the flowers against the dark leaves.

'Ooh pretty' about sums it up for me too I'm not sure if I've seen one of those before to notice it. Love the spiky shape.

Nice plant, like the colour of the flowers against the dark leaves. It almost reminds me of a Begonia

I bought a few plants at Hampton Court - and resisted others! I brought home a Fatsia japonica 'Spider's Web', a Penstemon 'Purple Passion' and another Geranium pratense'Plenum Violaceum' because my previous plant vanished. I resisted a beautiful rose called 'Burgundy Ice' - I simply haven't got any room for another rose.

'Burgundy Ice' looks pretty and I think you will succumb Geranium.

I keep looking round to see where I could fit one in, Cherry. This is the one I saw at Hampton Court. Yesterday I went to the Garden Centre to buy a replacement Achillea, as one of mine had reverted to a nasty grey colour. I bought a pretty pink one with a silly name. Achillea Tutti Frutti 'Wonderful Wampee'. Who thinks up these names? I also spotted Verbascum chaixii 'Album' and pretty annual Angelonias. I'm afraid I also succumbed to a deep purple Zantedeschia and a pot for it to grow in!

Alan Gray of East Ruston Old Vicarage is always complaining about the silly names in his column. They really are ridiculous and can even put me off a plant.

It didn't put me off, Cherry, because it was the colour I was after - I only read the label when I got it home. I've got other Achilleas in the Tutti Frutti group - I read about them on the net. This is it.

Geranium, that is an Achillea that has come a long way from its roots. I have never imagined one to look as lovely. The colour, style and size of each separate flower within the inflorescence puts it in another league.

I wish I could get Achillea to grow well on my patio - it just never seems to really get going, I must be doing it wrong. That's a gorgeous plant despite the daft name - I quite like the daft names, I admit Although I looked up 'Wampee' and apparently it's an American place, an American plant with blue flowers, a Chinese tree and also means 'yellow skinned' in Mandarin - so I have no idea where they got that one from! It's a bit like the crazy names you get for race horses... I went to an Antiques Fair in Leominster on Sat, and still managed to come back with plants... Lythrum 'Ruby Gem,' Physostegia 'Snow Queen,' Astilbe 'False Spirea' and a Knautia something or other... (photographed inside as it was too boiling hot and bright outside at the time!) I've been after a Physostegia 'Snow Queen' for a while, I hope it's going to be as lovely as I imagined from catalogue photos! I bought the rest, cos, well, it was 4 plants for £10, I had birthday money, and I couldn't leave the other three there... Knautia is a new one to me. I'm not too sure where I'm going to squeeze them in either...
