lesley I get it. Dylan has grown up with us. We knew all his mischievous ways when he was a pup and now feel sorry for him and grindle.

Poor Dylan, I hope he isn't in any pain grindle ...
This is what I can see from my front door tonight - the mountain is on fire.

thanks everyone, he seems ok but I will be glad when we get it redone, get the collar off and he can be back to normal, I'm sure he's pretty fed up with not getting out much either which doesn't help

Do you know what has caused the fire Eli? There have been some fires on the moors in Greater Manchester already as well with people having BBQs usually! There seems to be a lot of extra 'dog walking' going on around here as people try to get out of the houses & not all the dogs around here are well trained, our neighbours from a couple of doors away have a little rescue dog who is very cute but goes mad & barks a lot when he sees other dogs but he is always kept on a lead. The mum & 5 year old daughter took him out for a walk yesterday & he was attacked by 2 rottweilers whose owner is a apparently a woman with no control over them. Our local Facebook community seem to all know them & the owner has been reported a few times to the police as her dogs have attacked others in the past, they've reported her again & the little dog is recovering, wearing a surgical vest so he doesn't lick his wounds & the little girl is traumatised as she was covered in his blood, we heard the screams as it happened a couple of streets away, terrifying.

That is awful SueA, both for the dog and little girl, and the mother too I should imagine I'm glad it has been reported.
I think the fires are started by yobs. Some say that farmers do it but it is so irresponsible that I don't agree. Sometimes the fires are huge and I've seen them burn right up very near to farm houses. There are no roads near the tops of those hills so whoever did it must have walked a long way.

SueA that is terrible, with more people walking dogs, the should all be kept on leads. We are lucky here that we can still use the field just up the road. Eli how can some people be so stupid, just putting more strain on emergency services unnecessarily

I saw the little dog trotting up their back garden in his little surgical jacket yesterday when I looked out of the bedroom window so he must be recovering & the little girl was out playing with him so hopefully she will get over it. The fire on Winter Hill near Bolton which you can see in the distance from some places around here was believed to have been started from a BBQ & around 40 firefighters had to tackle it, can't believe the stupidity of some people!

I hope the dogs are taken away SueA. 2 dogs tend to ‘pack’ and lead each other on. If a toddler is in a pushchair it is face level with unfriendly dogs and a worry. If rottweilers and dobermans are not properly trained they can be a real problem. The small dog and toddler in this case will be traumatised for life.

Dylan is back home now, feeling sorry for himself, but they've now put stronger stitches in so hopefully these will do the trick.
We have a short cut up to the moors from the village and now they are policing it, stopping any car that has more than one person and turning them back if they have no legitimate reason for being up there, it's worrying as Easter is looming and we're bound to get some numpties in our beauty spots

People have been saying that the dogs should be taken off that woman for a while Cherry, apparently she lives in a flat above a shop which is not suitable for 2 big dogs anyway & although the dogs seem to be friendly with people they're obviously not with other dogs, they would probably be good pets if given to someone else & trained properly. Glad to hear Dylan is O.K. grindle. I think they're doing something similar around here now to what you said about policing people driving to go for walks, a nature photographer who regularly goes up the moss here says he was told he couldn't drive up there the other day but then I would think if you're local you don't need to get in a car you can just walk there anyway as we always do. O.H.'s sister's son works in our local big Tesco store & when I phoned her yesterday she said he can't believe how some people are behaving in the store - & the worst ones are the older pensioners! They have had to hire bouncers who normally work on club doors to try & control customers but apparently when the early opening shopping hour for the elderly & vulnerable was on the other day they opened the doors & were stormed by gangs of older people totally disregarding 'social distancing' & only a few customers being allowed in at a time & they just didn't know how to handle it. Our nephew is a big tall lad in his 30s but even he felt intimidated when he was stocking a fridge with pizzas & a gang of pensioners were huddled around him waiting to grab them, one even grabbed his arm & when he said 'I think you'd better step back please mate' he was given a mouthful about how he couldn't tell them what to do as they'd been through a war etc. (they must have been children then or very spritely for their age!). Can't understand how some people are behaving, some shop staff are hiding in the store rooms crying & not wanting to go into work but worried about losing their jobs & not having a wage coming in, everyone is in the same boat & everyone is worried but lots of people are working hard to keep us going so we should respect that.

This unbelievable behaviour seems to be happening in a lot of supermarkets. SueA I think your nephew deserves special thanks for facing the frontline as he does. I was listening to Radio 4 this morning where this subject was featured. Too many old people are rude and expect special respect because of their age.. I think respect has to be earned; at any age.

People don't change just because they get old. Horrible young people grow into horrible old people. They've probably been like that all their lives and will never change. I have come across many decent and polite youngsters. I think the majority of them are.
