Can they be replaced Tel ? Hopefully the raiser's will have been told, about their plants. I wonder if the raisers have any spares in pots, then it may be to expensive, to get them to the trials now.

This sounds like whoever took these new exactly what they wanted ! Not a nice thought .
I think the nds on this occassion should help out these raisers and if they have spare plants arrange to collect them or pay for them to be delivered etc... I think this is something that really should be done.

It's too late to start planting plants out even from large pots.
It's obvious to me they are not Dahlia growers !!!!!! As they took Barbarries .................................................... Before any of you get excited about this comment. I like the Barbarry varieties (I have 5 varieties in)
I AM ONLY JOKING
The raiser Barry Davies is a lovely man and has produced some very good Miniatures

Barbarry Patriot is on release for next year Cherval Megan is already available (not great) Scaur Queen may be released by Ridgeways the askwiths are usually released by Halls (I think). I have ordered Patriot from Barry Davies already.

Patriot is a pink miniature ball/dec HeHe HeHe it is for sale as a mini ball. So, you have seen it with your Judges' 'hat on' ian and agree that it is a 'real' ball dahlia? Rather than a Mary's / Jomanda ball dec? Also does it suffer from fading / need covers?
After being at another show where Mary's / Jomanda won I have decided that's it, I am really going to go for an alternative. I grew 2 plants of Blyton Softer Gleam this year and next year I want to push it up to 3 plants. (Now for me that is a massive decision and commitment) (2 plants was pushing it for me this year).
I have tried Shelia - nothing particularly wrong with it but nothing particularly special about it. Clearview Daniel, not that fussed on. So I am looking for a really good miniature ball and it really needs to be really good enough to be a contender with a real chance of beating Mary's / Jo.
In an ideal world I would have a stunning dual small / miniature classified variety - might even push up to 4 plants if there were.
Talked to my Dad about it, he is going to give me a ball seedling of his, maybe I will get lucky. Got to try something.

These were my entry of Blyton at Southport. Ian doesn't rate it as it loses it's form.
