Tel I find it apauling that someone should put the results out on Facebook before you have been informed. I can only apologise on behalf of the Northern Committee I will bring this up at the next meeting it is not on at all, you should get to know through the proper channels. I wanted to tell you but could not. As I said before there wasn't much between the top ten entries at all. Sorry Tel

Gutted for you Tel, and what a way to find out . I think the handling of this is very poor, will only put people off entering a plant onto the trials. Shameful!!
Still think Garden Friends will make the grade, to lovely not to....

Garden Friends, looking at the points finished in 13th place in the trials with 62.65 points. 1.89 points behind one of the bronze winners. taking out the first two, the rest did not have a lot between them. Wyns Favourite, finished 17th with 60.94 points. if I counted right there were 43 entries, this year. With the poor record in the trials for Collarettes I have to be happy with that result.

You should be happy Tel. You have a harrogate winner and many dahlias that win trials disappear into the night never to be seen again , been looking for some and hard to find them if at all. I personally think collarettes should be promoted more. Extremely pleasing in the garden and show bench full of flowers non stop and great for the bees and butterflies. I find the look of the ball and small min Dec looking very alike. Trying to pick for next year they pretty much look the same bar a few. So for me blyton Valentine not on my shopping list although cracking colour. I will be doing Clair de lune, pooh and if you let me birkenshaw garden friends as my collarettes

I know that you are disappointed but you have done really well. I know recently there have been quite a few posts about the winning recently but the fact that you have believed in your blooms so highly that you want them put out their for all to see. Good for you. If I remember rightly wasn't there a bit of a push to get more varieties in the trials - they hadn't had as many as they had hoped early on. If they are going to put the varieties out on a platform for visitors to come and see make their own opinions - they need people to believe in the system. You seem to have been waiting ages to get the results, have you received them officially now?
Things like this need to be fair and seen to be fair to all otherwise it would put people off.
Here's a question though, what happens to the plants now that the season is over? Do you get to dig up your varieties and take your tubers home? or are the triallers i.e. the people that have done the day to day nurturing of the varieties - get to keep the tubers? pre-pre release.
Obviously I don't have a clue what I'm talking about or know any body at all associated with the trials with the exception of you Tel and I am not intending to cast aspersions. Just would like to understand the process and to see how it works fairly.

Any tubers not returned are shredded. I could have gone and collected mine on the day, but I did not require them back.

Grim (but then you know that I'm a big softy) (the shredded bit) but at least you know people won't take advantage of your prize dahlias and good (but still very competitive) nature.
