Today I have tied up all the chrysanths in the garden. Reduced the breaks(laterals)if there were too many.Because I grow them for exhibition most varieties have only two breaks on each plant. I have also dismantled all my frames (except three that I will take to the allotment)and put them away behind the shed and greenhouses.

On the allotment I planted the sweet corn. This bed had been weeded before.Sowed some radish and Planted some lettuce between the rows of sweet peas and runner beans.Had to weed this patch first.Tied up the peas and sweet peas.I have to do this twice a week.Weeded a strip on the root crop bed for sowing swedes then began weeding the onion bed.

Yesterday I had a full day and evening gardening so I got a lot done. I typed out quite a long post at night to tell you what I had been doing but my computer wouldn't let me post it.I was rather annoyed because it takes me a long time to type anything and I hadn't time to type it all again. Today I have started planting the border round the back lawn. I plant a row of chrysanths and dahlias along the back of each border. I am having a plant stall at church on Saturday at which I am hoping to get rid of my surplus plants so I began sorting these out today, deciding which I may still need and which I can sell.

Today I have finished planting the border round the back lawn. The plants in this border are mainly for cutting and showing. Those I have put in are-cleome, helichrysum, antirrhinums, zinnias, asters, calendulas, salvia"Victoria",stocks and ageratum"blue horizon". This evening I have taken my plants to church for the plant stall tomorrow.

We have been on our plant stall at church today. It started at 11.00 but we went about 10.00 to finish setting it up and we were on it till 3.00PM. We sold about £84 worth of plants. When we got home I did some weeding in my own garden and then this evening I went on the allotment to start getting the annual beds ready for planting.I forked the first one over. There weren't many weeds because I had been putting weedol on.Rain stopped play at 9.00. I normally stay till 10.00 if the weather is fine.

After the plant sale yesterday there were a few chrysanths and sweet peas left .I didn't think it was worth keeping these so I binned them. There were also 24 dahlias which were still good plants and I thought it a shame to throw these away so I took them to my local garden centre to see if they could sell them.I wrote all the types and colours on the labels.I told them I didn't want anything for them and that I would rather give them to them rather than throw them away. Didn't have much more gardening time today but I took some streptocarpus leaf cuttings and potted some fennel from drinking cups into 4 inch pots.

We have had a very enjoyable day out at Chester with Heather (our daughter from Wales). We got home at 7.30.Had an hour before we went and the rest of the evening to get some gardening done. I potted 20odd brassicas from 3 inch pots to 5 inch. Spent the rest of the time tidying the garden and sorting plant pots out. When planting baskets and tubs I just throw the plant pots into large buckets and boxes which are lying about all over the place looking untidy. So today I have been sorting them into their different sizes . I then put each size into seperate buckets and store them behind the greenhouse.

Went on the allotment this morning and finished planting one of the annual beds I started yesterday then started to fork over the next one.It started raining at 12.00 and rained the rest of the day so I went home and spent the rest of the day and part of the evening in the greenhouses (except for going to school.I went through all the plants in my larger greenhouse tidying them up and cutting them back if I thought they needed it. Took 70 odd fuchsia cuttings . If any plants were badly shaped I cut them back and used the growths I cut off as cuttings.
