After going a walk this afternoon I went to school. Fed the tomatoes then harvested more courgettes, runner beans, radisheS and a few tomatoes and left them in the polytunnel for Gina. The tomatoes are slow ripening this year . I have only had some sungold, both at school and at home. Went on the allotment this evening and finished putting the collars on the leeks.I would like them bigger so I gave them a feed of nitrochalk. Some of the dahlias needed longer canes so I used some 5 feet ones that had been on gladioli that had finished.

This morning I fed the baskets, tubs, tomatoes and larger pot plants again. This afternoon after going a walk I washed half of the potatoes I brought from school yesterday. This evening I went to school and forked over the potato bed again and got nearly a full bucket of potatoes. I just went to the allotment after to water. Potatoes dug up at school yesterday.

Yesterday, I mowed the lawns and washed the rest of the potatoes from school. On the allotment in the evening I picked some French beans then started weeding the path behind the onion bed. This afternoon, Rosemary went to Martyn's so we couldn't go a walk. I had an afternoon on the allotment. I harvested runner beans, broad beans, 3 cabbages, 2 marrows and 2 beetroot. Removed the yellow leaves from the sprouts, fed the communal tubs with maxicrop, filled up the water butts and carried on with the weeding. Went again this evening and did some more weeding on the path I was doing yesterday and almost finished it.

I usually come home from Blackleach at 3.00 after the art club but today I stayed to do some gardening. I had sprayed the weeds on the path alongside the visitor centre before . I scraped up the dead weeds with my hoe and brushed them up and got rid of them. The path looks a lot tidier now. There is a flagged terrace outside the back door which is weedy so I sprayed that today. I went to the allotment this evening just to water.

After shopping this morning I only had time to do a bit of dead heading in the front garden. I really like the marigold "tall Scotch prize" along the front wall. People walking past are admiring it but it has grown too much and is swamping the other plants in front. I keep trying to tie it up but it isn't easy This afternoon I took Rosemary a walk in her wheelchair then I did my walk round Blackleach. Just went to the allotment this evening to water My front garden

We went another walk this afternoon , then I went to school. Fed the tomatoes then harvested more courgettes, runner beans , the first French beans ,a few small tomatoes and the first few larger tomatoes. Went to the allotment this evening. I don't know how this has happened but several of the labels on the spray chrysanths are wrong so I took them off. Will have to write new ones when I have time. Did the watering after.

After going a walk this afternoon I had an hour on the allotment and went again this evening. Most of the sweet peas have finished so I pulled them up and put them on the compost. Each one had at least 10 rings securing them to the canes and removing all these took a while. Did some more staking of dahlias and cosmos . They needed longer canes because they were hanging over the path. Did some more weeding on the path I was doing last Wednesday.

I didn't have time to go on my computer last night because I had a job to do that took me till bedtime. I fed the baskets, tubs, tomatoes and pot plants again. I removed the bud bags from the chrysanths and put larger bags on. On the allotment in the evening I put correct labels on the spray chrysanths that had been wrong . Also tied up some annuals that needed it, particularly nicotiana that were leaning over other plants , filled up an empty water butt and finished weeding the path behind the onion bed. After shopping this morning only had time to do the watering. This afternoon I mowed the lawns , then removed side shoots from most of the chrysanths and dead headed the roses. This evening on the allotment I also dead headed the roses. Many of the chrysanths are flowering late but one variety of sprays named "Aurora queen" always flowers early and they have finished so I cut all the plants down. On Thursday , we are going to Beaumaris, on Anglesey, till Sunday so I have only got tomorrow to do jobs that I always like doing before we go away. I see that all plants are securely tied and dead headed. Apart from dead heading roses I remove any that would be dropping before we returned. I also try to remove any plants that have finished flowering, like the aurora queen chrysanths. I also harvest any veg that is ready, particularly the beans, and give them to neighbours The reason we are going is that our son, Martyn, is 60 on Friday and Heather's husband, Carle, is 60 a few days later .It is my birthday next week but it isn't a special one. So, we are all going for a family holiday. I told you before that my eldest grandson, Alex, had bought a house near Beaumaris so we will see him too.

Went to the allotment this morning and again this evening. Most of the gladioli have finished so I cut them down. I tied up those that were left. The petunias in the communal tubs were past their best so I pulled them out and put some geraniums in their place. Harvested some runner beans, French beans, broad beans, courgetes and some beetroot and turnips. I will sort them out tomorrow and give them to 4 of our neighbours. This afternoon I removed more side shoots from the chrysanths and dead headed and did the same to the dahlias. We are not going away tomorrow till 2.00 so I will be able to do some jobs in the morning. I haven't had time to dead head the dahlias on the allotment so I can do them tomorrow except that the dry weather is supposed to be coming to an end. I am not taking my computer away with me so you won't hear any more from me till Sunday or Monday.

Today was back to normal. This morning I fed the tomatoes, baskets, tubs and pot plants again. This afternoon I went to school and fed the tomatoes and picked a few and some runner beans, French beans, climbing French beans and courgettes and left them in the polytunnel for Gina. I took the potatoes that I dug up from the school garden and gave them to the secretary. I told her that the original idea of growing veg at school was to use it in the kitchen. I think that this is the best way to use it but it doesn't seen to happen now. I suggested that she asked the kitchen staff if they wanted them and if not she could let the teachers and staff have them. Went to the allotment for a bit this evening , mainly to water , but I got rid of the peas onto the compost heap because they had finished.
