As I said yesterday, we have been to Bolton. I had an M & S vouchure to spend and I got an amaryllis and an orchid. I also got some hyacinths and some more crocuses and pansies from Wilkinsons. Before we went I planted Heather's two hanging baskets and started taking my baskets down and potting some plants out of them that I wanted to keep.

Yesterday afternoon Heather took Rosemary a walk in her wheelchair and then they went shopping together. So I carried on emptying my hanging baskets and potting up plants from them that I wanted to keep. We went to Martyn's for tea then played games. Today, Martyn took us out for a meal at lunchtime but we didn't get home till about 3.00 . After, I finished what I have been doing with the hanging baskets. Forgot to mention that Heather left for home at 5.30 and she has phoned to say she has arrived safely.

The only gardening job I had time to do today was to remove the labels from the chrysanth canes and tie them onto the stools so they are ready to dig up and box up now.

Not much gardening time today, either. Shopping took all morning . We went a walk this afternoon, later than usual so not much time after. I told you that I had finished emptying the hanging baskets and potting up plants I wanted to keep. There was just the window box of pink diascias left to do so I potted these up.

Almost a full gardening day. I planted 5 hanging baskets for the front of the house and put them in position . Also planted two for Edna, the other walk leader at Blackleach . I will take her these tomorrow. I also planted the rest of the tubs in front of the house. Planted tulips in some of them and polyanthus, primulas forgertmenots and pansies which I got from Suttons and bellis from the garden centre.

As I told you yesterday I took Edna's hanging baskets to Blackleach. The weather forecast was not good but it didn't rain till this evening. When I got home from Blackleach about 3.30 I potted up some begonias that I took out of one of the tubs I emptied yesterday . I then removed the canes from the chrysanth bed and , of course, the V clips that fixed the canes to the wires and put them away. I then tied the wires along the fence at the back, out of the way.

We went shopping this morning. It takes longer than it used to and we can't go as early so I don't have time to do much after. This afternoon it was too showery to risk going anywhere. I found the mushroom boxes in which I plant the chrysanth stools and washed them in my wheelbarrow under the car port. Because it is showery I decided that I had better do the planting in the greenhouse but the floor needed tidying first. I laid the boxes out and put some John Innes Number three compost in but didn't have time to plant any.

It was dry this afternoon so I went on the allotment for the first time for two weeks .I took 5 bags of green waste from my garden to put on the compost, mainly from the hanging baskets and tubs. Rosemary wanted some sprouts for tomorrow so I picked these first. I then cut down the remaining spray chrysanths and tied the labels onto the stools like I did to those at home and I brought all the canes home.

It had been showery this morning but the sun came out this afternoon. So, I decided to go to Blackleach to do the bird count. I don't intend writing down the wild flowers again this year so I didn't intend walking right round. I thought I would just go to see what birds were on the reservoir. Anyway, as soon as I got there it started pouring down.I sat in the car for about 20 minutes and it didn't show any signs of stopping so I came home. It rained all afternoon so I stayed in , so I haven't done any gardening or bird watching today. I have been making my seed order out for Suttons

Had to take Rosemary to hospital this morning for 10.00 for an appointment with a haematologist .She had to have more X rays as well and we weren't home till about 1.30. It had rained all morning, hard at times. It was fine this afternoon, though, so I took a chance and went to Blackleach to do what I wanted to do yesterday. It stayed fine while I counted all the birds on the reservoir. I got home about 3.00 intending to start boxing up the chrysanths but it started raining about 3.15 and did so the rest of the afternoon so I'm glad it stayed fine for me at Blackleach. Some of the mushroom boxes that I am using for chrysanths were split so needed repairing so I went in the greenhouse and did so. I just bind duck tape round them.

We went shopping this morning and this afternoon I went to school. The teacher brought a different set of children out so as I have done before, I showed them the veg that was growing and explained the rotation system that we use. When the children had gone I picked the remaining few tomatoes and got rid of the plants.I put the plants in three sacks and will take them to my allotment to go on the compost. I intended taking Rosemary a walk when I got home about 3.00 but it started raining so I went in the greenhouse and finished boxing up my chrysanths. This evening I have taken the runner bean seeds out of the pods that I had saved. They have been drying on top of a cupboard in the kitchen.

A dry day for a change. Went to the allotment this morning and dug up the spray chrysanth stools and brought them home. I had tied the labels on before. This afternoon I went to Martyn's and pulled up his bedding plants and brought them home. They filled three sacks. I will take them to the allotment next time I go and put them on the compost. When I got home I went in the greenhouse and boxed up the chrysanths I brought home this morning. My seed order came from Dobies. As well as mine there were orders for two of my neighbours and some to give out on the allotments. I order them all together to save carriage .I enjoyed sorting them out this evening. I posted my order to Suttons yesterday but these are just for myself.

When I got home from Blackleach today at 3.30 , I went to the allotment and took the plants that I brought from Martyn's yesterday and put them on the compost . I then took down the framework of canes on which the climbing French beans were growing and put all the plants on the compost.

Not a full day because we went shopping this morning and this afternoon I had an appointment at the opticians. When I got home this afternoon I started removing the plants from the front garden. I filled four sacks and three of them were the marigold "tall Scotch prize" which were growing along the front wall. I still have a lot more to do.

It was dry while I was at the hut this morning but it started raining about 1 PM which stopped us going for a walk. The rest of the afternoon was showery. I went in the greenhouse and I decided to plant one more box of chrysanth stools.I removed the labels from the rest of the stools and put the stools in the bin. I moved plants about to make room on a shelf for all the boxes of stools. While it wasn't raining I decided to empty the remaining tubes in which carrots were growing. They are tubes made from builders damp proof material . I took them into the greenhouse to empty them in case it stated raining again. So ,I took the carrots out , emptied the compost into sacks and put the tubes away behind the shed. The tubes had been stapled together so I open them up and removed the staples and rolled several tubes up together and tied them up.
