This morning I took Rosemary to have the dressing removed from her wound. The nurse is satisfied with it now. Heather has seen to Rosemary's needs the rest of the day so I have been in the greenhouse most of the time. I potted the rest of the rooted dahlias from cuttings taken up to March 4th.There are 53 potted. I then took another 72 dahlia cuttings. This evening I have pricked out another 4 trays of trailing lobelia.

When it is raining, the rain from our roof runs into a water butt. There are cracks in it, though, and when it rains hard the water runs through the cracks and floods the terrace. I have tried to fill in these cracks before but it didn't work so now that the butt is half empty I had another go at it. I wrapped some duck tape round it as well so if it doesn't work this time I will need a new water butt. I told you before that I brought home the three frames in which I grow carrots on the allotment. They are now on the border between the back lawn and the path. They can stay on here because I don't plant this border till June. I had already put one of them in position and put onion sets in it. Today I put the other two in position and put the remaining onion sets in one of them. I will probably put chrysanths in the other. This evening I have pricked out two trays of antirrhinums and one of bedding lobelia.

It has been raining off and on all day, not hard, just drizzly. The first rain for about two weeks. So I have been in the greenhouse most of the day. 72 plugs of gazanias came from Suttons so I transferred them to cell trays. Potted the leeks from small pots into 4 inch pots . Pricked out 6 peppers and 5 aubergines out into small pots. Also, pricked out another 2 trays of lobelia.

Haven't had time for any garden jobs today. Rosemary has been in hospital again for some tests. The ambulance came for her at 8.00 and I went for her about 4.00 to bring her home. I did the usual wellbeing walk at Blackleach this morning and went back this afternoon for the art club.

Rosemary had two appointments today. I had to take her to the surgery this morning to see one of the nurses and to the dentist this afternoon. In between, I have sown the zinnias. I sow them in bottomless drinking cups upside down stood on a layer of compost in a tray. When the plants are ready for planting the cup just lifts off with no root disturbance.

Not been able to do any gardening jobs today. Rosemary is not well at all. She fell in the night and again this morning. Phoned the surgery and they sent a doctor to look at her. After doing some tests he thought she had better go to hospital to be checked properly. She is very confused mentally and think it is because her sodium level is very low. An ambulance came for her about 4.30 and I went in my own car. We waited over three hours before a doctor examined her. I came home then. She will be in 2 or 3 days.

Thanks for your good wishes, Grindle and Sue. I have been to see her this afternoon and she is still the same but they are monitoring her sodium levels so I hope they can soon sort her out .All the time I was there she was talking nonsense.I will go again tomorrow. Anyway, back to gardening. The rest of the day I have been in the garden or greenhouse. I took the last 36 dahlia cuttings. I have taken 386 altogether. Took the boxes of tubers off the warming benches and put them outside. I don't need any more chrysanth cuttings either so I untied all the labels from the top of the stools (this took me a while), removed the stools from the boxes into the re-cycling bin and emptied the compost into sacks. I will use this compost for something else.

Went to see rosemary again this afternoon. There was no change but she had a scan so I hope this might reveal something that will help with her problems. Today I sowed a few more packets of flower seeds. I stopped all the chrysanths that were ready (pinching out the tops). They need to be 6 inches tall to do this. This makes them produce the side breaks(laterals) which will eventually carry the flowers. This evening I have pricked out 2 boxes of marigold "tall Scotch prize" and one of cosmos "sensation"

At Blackleach till 3.00 today as I usually am on Thursdays. Went straight to hospital after to see Rosemary. There is not much change since yesterday. Been in the greenhouse this evening and sowed some sweet peas, 15 each of six varieties. I sow them in drinking cups and I filled most of the cups yesterday. There are more than 15 seeds in each packet but I hadn't enough compost to do the rest.

Had a morning on the allotment for the first time for nearly a month. I took the John Innes compost in which the chrysanth stools had been and raked it over the annual beds. There are two 80 gallon drums and a wheeliebin on the allotment in which I grow long carrots. They are filled with old compost but I make bore holes in this compost and fill them with new compost that I have mixed. I mixed it a week or two ago. I poke it down with a cane to there are no air pockets .This was my main reason for going today. I wanted to see if I had enough compost or if I needed to mix any more. There was more than enough so I had some left. I also emptied the large buckets that had grown potatoes last year onto the chrysanths bed and raked it over. Brought the buckets home to fill again. This evening I have pricked out another box of cosmos and three trays of French marigolds. Went to see Rosemary this afternoon and she had gone for another scan so I had to wait over an hour before I could see her. There was still not much change and she was still talking nonsense. Her sodium level has gone up though, which should help. Heather, our daughter from Wales arrived an hour ago so she can come with me to see her tomorrow. It will cheer Rosemary up .I don't think they will let us go in together though.
