The rain that was forecast didn't arrive till this afternoon so I was able to fork manure into the dahlia beds. I also grow a row of dahlias at the back of the border between the back lawn and the fence and I manured this too so all the manuring is finished now. I then forked over the rest of this border. This afternoon I went in the greenhouse and took some cuttings from my overwintered basket plants, diascia and bacopa.

Couldn't go to Blackleach today as I normally do on Thursdays because Rosemary still needs my help. She has to do exercises three times a day which she needs help with and also going up and down stairs. When she didn't need me I have been in the greenhouse. 72 plug plants of Impatiens (Busy Lizzies) came from Suttons so I planted them into cell trays. I then took some more cuttings of diascias. I have also sown some more flower seeds , cosmos, nicotiana, rudbeckia, ageratum, antirrhinum "Mme Butterfly" and Marigold "Tall Scotch prize" and 4 varieties of French marigolds.

No gardening at all today apart from watering this morning. I took Rosemary at 11.00 to the district nurse to have the clips taken from the wound after her hip operation. This afternoon it started bleeding badly so I took her to hospital to the A.and E . We were there all afternoon and they put a thicker dressing on which they hoped would stop it.

The bleeding from Rosemary's wound didn't get better so last night she phoned the emergency number for district nurses .One came about 12.30 A.M. but said she would have to consult the doctor. He said she could do with going to hospital so he ordered an ambulance. It arrived about 1.00 A.M. and took her .Nobody came to examine her for 3 hours so she phoned me at 4.20 A.M. asking me to go, so I did. I was there till late afternoon but they had done tests on her it was decided to keep her in overnight,so I came home. I have been back to hospital since with some things that she wanted .When I got home I potted 20 surfinia that arrived this morning from Suttons into small pots so this is the only gardening I have done today.

Thanks for your concern about Rosemary. I have been to see her this afternoon and took her some things that she wanted. She is far from being well yet but it is early days and I just hope her problems will be sorted out soon. When I got home I planted 54 tomato seedlings into yoghuet pots.

More plug plants arrived today, from Parkers this time, 120 pansies and 33 non stop begonias. When I came home from seeing Rosemary this afternoon I planted them into cell trays .Because I am short of room in the greenhouses I put the pansies in a frame. This is the only gardening job I have had time for today. At 8.00 this evening I went back to the hospital to bring Rosemary home. She seems better than she did yesterday and the bleeding has stopped. A district nurse is coming to see to her three times a week and she will change the dressing if needed.

Rosemary is still not well and she woke me at 1.00A.M.saying she needed someone to come and examine her. To cut a long story short, an ambulance came at 3.00 A.M. with 2 paramedics. They did tests on her but found nothing wrong and told her to phone the surgery in the morning. A doctor prescribed some antibiotics so I went to the chemists for them. This afternoon I took another 67 dahlia cuttings. To make more room in the greenhouses I put all the boxes of chrysanth stool outside because I don't think I need any more cuttings.

This morning I did the wellbeing walk at Blackleach but I couldn't go back for the art club this afternoon because I had to take Rosemary to the dentist. When I got home this afternoon and this evening I started pricking out the seedlings from the seeds I sowed in January and February. I did 4 boxes of 48 asters. I normally do my pricking out in what I call my utility room which is a small room next to the kitchen. However, Rosemary has a commode in there now so there isn't room unless I put it somewhere else. This evening I did it outside under the carport which is O.K. in mild weather like this but I wouldn't want to do it in cold weather.

In nice mild weather like this it takes me about an hour to water all my plants in the greenhouses and tubs outside every morning. After that this morning I thinned the brassicas that I had sown in 3 inch pots to one per pot and filled some boxes for pricking out. We went shopping this afternoon and I did some more pricking out this evening .Did some more asters and some African marigolds and a few rudbeckias.

Heather, our daughter arrived mid afternoon for a few days. We went for a walk with Martyn, with Rosemary in her wheelchair. I have been in the greenhouse the rest of the time. Sowed some more flower seeds including 3 varieties of sunflowers which I sowed in cell trays. The chrysanths in 3 inch pots were stood in boxes on the greenhouse shelf. I sorted them into varieties and put them in rows of each variety on the greenhouse floor, which will give me more room for other plants on the shelve. Began potting rooted dahlias into three and a half inch pots. This evening I have pricked out 3 trays of 54 trailing lobelia. When pricking out lobelia(and alyssum) I put them in clumps of 4 or5 plants.
