Heather has brought me 8 pots of various sizes to plant for her and I have 7 to do for another lady so I have done them this afternoon and evening. Heather is going home tomorrow evening and will take as many as will fit in her car. I will call at the other lady's tomorrow afternoon on my way to hospital. Heather has bought me some new wellies for father's day. At church this morning , the preacher asked if any fathers or grandfathers had had any presents this morning. I put my hand up and shouted "I've got some new wellies" and everybody laughed.

Went on the allotment this morning and planted 12 marrows then tied up the rest of the sweet peas and also the peas.Chose the best shoot on each plant and secured it to the cane with rings and removed the unwanted shoots. Took the pots I planted for a lady yesterday to her house on the way to hospital and Heather took hers home this evening. The tomatoes in the greenhouse needed longer canes so I did them this evening.

Forgot to tell you yesterday that I planted my dahlia bed at home. There are just 27 plants in it, in 5 varieties, and they are all large or medium flowered varieties. Today I have finished putting longer canes in my tomato plants. Got rid of about 24 tomato plants that were still in 4 inch pots. These were originally for school but the polytunnel has still not been repaired so I decided it was too late to bother with them now. Planted another 2 baskets for myself and 2 chimney pots and window box. Went to school this evening and finished weeding the "others" bed then the children can put some plants in on Thursday. I use the same crop rotation in the 4 veg beds at school as I do on my allotment. The "others" bed is anything except potatoes, brassicas and root crops.Put fish, blood and bone on this bed and the brassica bed to get them ready for planting.

Today I have finished planting all my tubs and other containers. I am having a plant stall at our summer fair at church on Saturday and because I am out most of tomorrow I started making preparations today, rather than leaving everything till Friday. Transferred a lot of plants into other trays suitable for selling. With bedding plants such as lobelia, of which I have a lot, I make them up into trays of twenty plants. This evening I took some cabbages, cauliflowers, sweet corn and courgette plants to school for the children to plant tomorrow.

At Blackleach this afternoon it was rather hot for working outside but I just planted a few calendulas in the L shaped bed. Went to the allotment this evening and started weeding the annual beds which are very bad. You can see how far behind I am because these beds should be planted by now and they are full of weeds.

Today, I dismantled the remaining three frames and put them away behind the greenhouse. I cleared the area in front of the shed where they had been and put boxes of plants, still waiting to be planted, on it .Spent the rest of the time making preparations for my plant stall at church tomorrow and this evening I took all the plants to church and set up the stall. I am going to show you some pictures of it

Went to church this morning for 11.00am to do my plant stall till 2.00pm. I sold £72 worth of plants altogether. I still had 35 dahlias left and on the way home I took them to my local garden centre for them to sell. It was either that or give them away to people on the allotments but I had given some away on the allotments a few weeks ago. Before it was time to go this morning and again this afternoon after going to hospital, I have been tidying up the garden by clearing all the boxes of plants from the border round the back lawn and get it ready for planting. It still needs forking over and weeding but there aren't many weeds. Went on the allotment this evening with the intention of carrying on with the weeding but some of the chrysanths, and the peas and sweet peas needed re-tying so I did them.

This afternoon I put more ties on the chrysanths. Went on the allotment this evening. I harvested the remaining overwintered onions then carried on weeding the annual beds.

It was raining this morning so I went in the greenhouse .Apart from a few spots , this is the first rain since June 7th. I have 24 tomato plants in pots in my larger greenhouse in two rows. They are tied to 5 foot canes. There are horizontal wires running along the top of the greenhouse. I tied strings to the top of the canes and fastened them to the wires to keep them upright.I then potted some rooted cuttings of blue bacopa, nepeta and Salvia "Hot lips" . The weather dried up later so I went to the allotment this evening. There are two beds of the same size where I grow annuals . I finished weeding one of the beds and raked fish, blood and bone into it so it is ready for planting. I then started weeding the other one. Because I am late with my planting I think I will plant up the bed that is ready before finishing weeding the other one.

Today I have forked over and weeded the border between the back lawn and the fence. Raked some growmore into it then planted 9 sunflowers at the back then 12 dahlias. Thought I might plant the rest of it this evening but it was raining so I went in the greenhouse. Potted about 20 rooted cuttings of pink diascia then potted 5 peppers and 3 aubergines into 6 inch pots and 4 coleus into 5 inch.

This morning I finished planting the border I was doing yesterday. Put in some antirrhinums "Mme butterfly", stocks "Early bird", calendulas "Orange king" and ageratum "Timeless". It was showery this afternoon , hard at times. My propagating greenhouse has trays on the staging which have been upside down up to now. When it was raining I went in and turned the trays the right way up and put grit in them. This helps to create a moist atmosphere and reduces watering which is what plants need in summer but not the rest of the year. It was dry this evening so I went to school to make some preparations for garden club tomorrow. I took 6 plants of climbing French beans and put up a wigwam of canes for them to grow on. Also finished weeding the root crop bed. The children had started doing it last week.

A showery day and we had a very heavy downpour early evening. Between showers I have managed to finish forking over the border between the back lawn and the fence and planted it up with Lobelia "Queen Victoria", Ageratum "Timeless", Rudbeckia "Indian summer, love lies bleeding, Zinnia "dahlia flowered", Marigold "Key lime" and two dahlias "Bishop of Llandaff".When it was raining I went in the greenhouse and sowed some beetroot in cell trays and potted a few fuchsias from 4 inch pots to 5 inch.
