I told you that my two frameworks of canes on which runner beans were growing had partly blown down. This morning I took a clothes prop from home and pushed one of the frames up into position and supported it with the prop while I repaired the framework.I then tried to do the same with the other framework but this one isn't as easy so I don't know if I can repair it so I left it supported with the prop I also told you that last Saturday was my last show but I will be taking some flowers and veg to church on Saturday for our harvest which is on Sunday.I intend doing a basket of veg like the one I did for Whitefield show so I started cutting some runner beans for it this morning. I couldn't get as many as I wanted because it started raining about 12.00. At home today I have given my hanging baskets, tubs, tomatoes and cucumbers another feed which I think may be the last.

Today at Blackleach I had to do the same as I did two weeks ago because Martyn is on holiday and I can't leave Rosemary on her own for long. I normally stay till 3.00 but today I had to go home after the walk in the morning at 12.00 to make the dinner theh go back for 1.00 to open the visitor centre for the art club.I came straight home after and we went for a walk but I had to go back at 3.00 to lock up after the art club people had gone. When I got home after I just had time to cut some chrysanths for the harvest. Heather arrived this evening for the weekend so, hopefully, I will be able to go to the allotment tomorrow, weather permitting.

Today I have been to the allotment for some more veg, runner beans, climbing French beans, beetroot, marrows and sweet corn and some more flowers for the church harvest and cut more flowers from my garden. This evening I have done two baskets, the one I did for Whitefield show and the shopping basket I did for Tottington. At Tottington show the schedule says that it has to be a shopping basket and it gives the maximum size. I have also done a large vase of mixed flowers.I will take them all to church in the morning.

This morning I took my flowers and baskets of veg to church for the harvest.Spent the rest of the morning doing some tidying up. This afternoon I went to "Apple day" on the allotments. All the spare apples had been collected .We have a slicer and a crusher to make them into juice. It rained all afternoon but a gazebo had beed put up outside the cabin so some of the work was done in here and some in the cabin. There were cakes in the cabin for us so it was a nice social get together and I brought home a bottle of juice.

It rained this morning but dried up this afternoon.I didn't know whether to chance going to the allotment but I did go and it managed to stay fine. I told you last Wednesday that I repaired my runner bean frames that had collapsed but it wasn't very sucessful. One is propped up with a clothes prop and the other is leaning very badly and I don't think I can repair them any better.I picked all the beans that were ready that I could get to.Spent the rest of the time weeding the three frames where I had sown carrots .They were overgrown with chickweed and there weren't many carrots growing.I finished one of them and started another. Forty Dobies catalogues came yesterday for me to distribute to people on our allotments and at our supply hut. By joining the group scheme we get a good discount. This evening I have stapled an order form into each one. I will take 20 to the hut next Saturday and take 15 to the allotments and leave them in the toilet block, probably tomorrow.I will ask the secretary to send an email round telling people about them.

This morning I went to the allotments and took the Dobies catalogues and put them in the toilet block.I also took 4 bags of old compost and put them on what was the potato bed. Carried on weeding the frames after, that I were doing yesterday. This afternoon I started cutting down the chrysanths that had finished and putting them in the re-cycling bin but it started raining mid afternoon and has carried on most of the day.

A showery day so I didn't think it was worth risking to go to the allotment. Between the showers I finished cutting down all the chrysanths that had finished flowering. There are only about ten plants still with flowers on. The tubes made from builders damp proof material in which I had grown parsnips and long carrots wer still lying on the spare ground in front of the shed, about 60 of them.To make them into tubes they had been stapled at the top and bottom. I removed all the staples and made the tubes up into neat bundles and tied them up and put them all behind the shed till next year. They are all the same length but there are two different widths so when tying them up I kept each width seperate.

It stayed fine today but I didn't have much gardening time. I took Rosemary a walk at Blackleach this afternoon.Afterwards I cut some dahlias for one of Rosemary's carers. When I took the bags off the chrysanths for Edenfield show they were wet so I left them spread out in the shed to dry.Today I put them together in bundles and tied them up and put them away till next year.

it was raining first thing but it dried up for our walk at Blackleach so we didn't get wet. Like last Thuursday, I had to come home at 12.00 then go back to open up for the art club at 1.00 then go back again at 3.00 to lock up. Last week I took Rosemary a walk in between but today it started raining again and has rained all afternoon so we stayed in. So I haven't done any gardening jobs today.

Another showery day.Between showers I started weeding the border between the back lawn and the fence and did about half of it.There were some salvia"Victoria" on this border that needed staking. When it was raining I did some tidying up of the plants in the greenhouses, removing dead leaves and cutting some back that were too leggy.

A nice dry day today.I took the Dobies catalogues to our supply hut. I am disappointed with Dobies and Suttons catalogues because they are smaller than usual and there are several varieties of flowers that I grow every year that are not in either catalogue. I mostly deal with these two suppliers because members of our horticultural society get a good group scheme discount .A few days ago I phoned both places to tell them of my disappointment and they said there would be another catalogue soon. I do wish that firms would put everything in one catalogue,it would be a lot easier. They also said that the varieties were on the website.I did look and found some that I wanted but if I order them from here, would I still get my discount? I will have to phone them again and ask. When I got home this morning I cut the remaining chrysanths to put in a vase. There weren't enough so I put some dahlias with them. I cut the chrysanth plants down after. This afternoon I went to Blackleach with Janet to record the birds and flowers. After, I finished weeding the front of the border that I was doing yesterday. I also disbudded and dead headed the dahlias.

This afternoon ,Martyn took us to a show that I have not been to before, at Ramsbottom which is not far from Edenfield where I showed two weeks ago. Most of the exhibitors who were showing were the same who were showing at Edenfield. I thought the standard was good but one of them said they could have done with my flowers. When we got home I started taking the chrysanth labels from the top of the canes and tying them onto the stools but I had only time to do half of them.
