It stayed dry for our walk at Blackleach this morning but it rained hard this afternoon so no gardening again.Even if it hadn't rained there isn't much time because I don't get home till about 3.30 and it is going dark by 4.00. Heather has arrived this evening for the weekend

Like yesterday, it was fine this morning but rained this afternoon. Heather brought a large prayer plant and she wanted me to divide it so I did that first.I took it out of its large pot and split it into four plants and potted them up seperately.I then did some more work in claning the greenhouse .I swept all the shelves and the floor.

It rained till about 11.00 then it stopped and the sun came out. It started again about 2.00 and has carried on the rest of the day.Heather brought a large prayer plant and she wanted me to split it.So I took it from its pot and split it into four and potted them seperately. I then replaced the sand on my warming benches in the greenhouse and put the warming cables in position between the layers of sand.I had to temporarily switch the power on to warm the cables because they bend into position better when they are warm.When I went into the greenhouse this afternoon there was a goldcrest in. Heather noticed it in the garden this morning.We have lived here for 65 years and I have never seen one here before.  Goldcrest in the greenhouse |

Forgot to mention in my post a few minutes ago that this evening we had booked to go to "Glow" at R.H.S.Bridgewater but Martyn received a message yesterday saying that it was cancelled.

It was fine for a bit this afternoon but has rained the rest of the day.Done no gardening jobs today.Heather went home this evening.

It has rained on and off all day.I fixed my home made propagator in position in the greenhouse which wasn't an easy job.It rests on a sheet of asbestos which is in three sections.I had to put these in position on the staging first and get them level and the staging isn't very level.Had to keep checking with a spirit level. The propagator is very heavy to lift and it was a job to lift it onto the asbestos without disturbing it.Didn't get it right first time so I had to lift it off and try again.

A decent day for a change. This morning I sprayed all the shelves,staging ,the propagator and warming benches in my empty greenhouse with disinfectant. I then got all the leaves from the roof of both greenhouses.There is a hawthorn hedge along the back and a large ash tree and many of the leaves fall onto the greenhouses. The weather has been too bad recently for me to take Rosemary a walk but we went one this afternoon.

It has been too wet to go on my allotment recently but because it didn't rain yesterday and because it was dry this morning I went and carried on forking over and weeding the spray chrysanth bed.I took 5 bags of old compost to put on the beds when they are weeded. We went for a walk again this afternoon.

After two dry days we were back to rain this morning but it only rained till mid morning. After our walk at Blackleach this morning we had a little party,cakes and mince pies as well as the usual biscuits.We are having two weeks off now so we won't be meeting again till January.The art club are also having two weeks off. I am hoping to do the last bird count of the year this weekend but apart from that I won't be going to Blackleach till next year.I enjoy going there so I will miss it.

It was dry again today so I went on the allotment this morning.I removed the nets that were over the brassica bed to keep off the butterflies because they are not needed any more.I folded them up and tied a string round them and put them in the shed.I also removed all the canes that supported the nets. Brought home three cabbages and gave two of them to neighbours.
We went for a walk again this afternoon

It didn't rain today so I went on the allotment this morning and carried on weeding the chrysanth bed.Went to Blackleach this afternoon to do the bird count with Janet for the last time this year.

Another dry day. There was no service at our church this morning because we had our carol service this afternoon.So I went in the garden this morning and finished weeding the border between the back lawn and the path. I had weeded some of it before when I put the bird table in position.

I went to the allotment this morning.As soos as I arrived it started drizzling a bit.I just sat in the car for a bit,wondering whether to chance going in or to go straight home. I did go in and it stopped raining so I had about an hour carrying on with the weeding. When I was coming away, though,it started raining heavier so I was just lucky.It has rained most of the day since so I stayed in.

The weather didn't look promising this morning but I took a chance and went to the allotment .It did stay dry so I went again this afternoon but it is raining this evening. I just carried on with the weeding. I finished the chrysanth bed which I have been doing the last few times and have been and started what was the root crop bed.

It has rained nearly all day,not hard but mainly drizzle but I couldn't do anything outside .So I stayed in most of the day and I did some more of my writing.
