Went on the allotment this morning. After yesterdays rain I thought it was too wet to carry on digging my potato bed.I decided to put the sweet peas and some other annuals that had finished onto the compost. It took me a while to take all the rings from the sweet peas and I had to cut the tithonia up to go on the compost because they were quite big plants. Before I went to the allotment this morning I washed the boxes for boxing my chrysanths in the wheelbarrow under the car port. This afternoon I dug up all the chrysanth stools and took them into the greenhouse separated into the different varieties.I removed the canes and put the V clips that had fixed the canes to the horizontal wires away in the shed. The horizontal wires are attached to T posts at the end of the rows. I untied these and tied the wires along the fence at the back.I didn't have time to do any boxing up but because the stools are in the greenhouse I will be able to do them tomorrow if it is raining. Chrysanth stools in the greenhouse searated into varieties waiting to be boxed up.

It started drizzling mid morning and carried on much of the day so I have been in the greenhouse most of the time.I boxed up the chrysanth stools into 5 boxes and put them on a shelf. There are about 10 in each box and I use John Innes no3.The boxes I use are, I think, mushroom boxes. When I washed them yesterday I washed twice as many as I needed for these chrysanths because I still have the sprays to do and I haven't dug those up yet as there are still some nice flowers on them. Some of the boxes I didn't use today were split and needed repairing so I spent some time doing that.I just bind some duck tape round them.I have also potted some rooted cuttings of salvias,Hot Lips and Cerro Potosi into small custard pots.

Drizzling again much of the day.Usually I have two beds full of chrysanths,4 rows on each. This year I hadn't enough plants so half of the second bed was planted with gladioli. There was one nice one left so I cut it and put it in a vase.I cut the rest of the plants down and dug up the corms then shifted the canes and tied the wires onto the fence like I did on the first bed. I put some old compost on both beds and raked it over.In the greenhouse I potted a few more rooted geranium and regal pelargonium cuttings. Chrysanth stools boxed up and put on a shelf yesterday

A dull day but it didn't rain. This morning I swept the leaves off the greenhouses again.I then started doing some weeding round the front lawn and pulled up a few annuals that had finished. They were only small weeds. We went for a walk this afternoon then I did a bit more weeding.I told you a few days ago that I brought 4 marrows from the allotnent. On Wednesday I put them in a box on the pavement at the front of the house with a note saying "For anyone who wants them" One went yesterday and the rest went this morning and someone left me a "thank you" note.

Some people will always thank you for your kindness , others won't give it a second thought.

Before it was time to go to the hut this morning I took some more hanging baskets down and began potting up plants from them that I want to keep for next year. I finished potting them up this afternoon. We didn't risk going a walk because it looked like rain. I also pulled up some plants from the front garden that had finished.

Went to Blackleach with Janet this afternoon. As I have told you before we walk round the park every two weeks counting the birds we see and recording the wild flowers. Now that it is November we didn't do the flowers today and we won't do them again till next year when the snowdrops arrive. So we didn't walk all round the park, just went to the reservoir. I went to school after and emptied all the tomato pots and put all the compost on some of the veg beds.Put away the trays on which the pots had been standing.

This morning I potted up some plants from the containers under the carport and removed the plants from other containers. Before I removed the rudbeckia marmalade I collected some of the seeds. I took 6 bags of plants that I had removed from the garden and containers to the allotment and put them on the compost. I then continued digging over the potato bed and nearly finished it. We went for another walk this afternoon. It was dull but it didn't rain.

Went on the allotment this morning.I cut the remaining spray chrysanths that were any good and took them home to put in a vase.I then cut down all the plants and took them home to put in the re-cycling bin. So the next job is to box them up. This afternoon I boxed up the plants of Lobelia "Queen Victoria" from the back garden and put them in the greenhouse. There were 14 plants and I put them in 2 boxes.I got the boxes ready before I went to the allotment this morning.

Thanks, Balc2. Went to the allotment this morning and took all the spray chrysanth labels from the top of the canes and tied them onto the stools.Didn't have time to dig them up but I went back for a bit this afternoon and did so and brought them home.Took them into the greenhouse and sorted them into varieties on the greenhouse floor.Hopefully I will box them up tomorrow. I have also emptied two more hanging baskets and potted some plants from them.

I spent some time potting up Pansies into clay pots to go on the balcony railings this morning. They should look nice over the winter.
