This morning I boxed up the spray chrysanths. I only have 4 varieties and only 3 plants of one of them so they went in three boxes.I emptied the rest of my tubs. Some comtained begonias so I ut them loose in boxes and put them under the greenhouse staging to dry.

We have had a few days without rain.Went on the allotment this morning. The bean frame needed propping up and fixing again.I picked some more runner beans and the first turnips. I then finished forking over and weeding the potato bed. Took Rosemary a walk this afternoon. When we go a walk in an afternoon now there isn't time to go out after and do any garden jobs because it is going dark. Heather, our daughter from Wales,is coming this evening for the weekend. She hasn't arrived yet but she said that it may be 10.00.

I didn't go to the hut this morning as I normally do because I have a bad cold and a cough and didn't want to spread my germs. So I went to the allotment and because Heather is here to look after Rosemary I went this afternoon as well. I weeded the strip at the back of the potato bed then started doing the "others" bed.

I am a bit better too,Balc2,but I decided not to go to church as I always do. We watched the service on U tube. Rosemary always does this when I go to church. Before it was time to watch it I pulled up a lot of plants from the border round the back lawn.We haven't had any rain for several days but it has rained all afternoon and is still doing so now at 7.00pm. Martyn came for us this afternoon and took us to R.H.S.Bridgewater.I wanted to go today because there was the North West Counties late chrysanth show.I no longer grow late chrysanths, only earlies, but am still interested. We have been out for a meal this evening as we often do when Heather is here, then she went home.

We didn't go to church either this morning. My wife was coughing a lot during the night so neither of us got much sleep.

It has been dry today. This morning I pulled some more plants up from round the back lawn then went to the allotment.I have three compost bays. One of them I can't use at present because the side has collapsed and needs repairing. One of the others is almast full with the plants I keep taking and I have a lot more to go in. The remaining one just has a layer in the bottom from last year but is not ready for use.So I decided to fork it over and start putting new material on top of it.It needed weeding because there was some marestail growing in it. I also staked and tied the Brussel sprouts. This afternoon I have pulled up more plants including some from the front barder.

You are keeping very busy! 😄
Yesterday I also pulled up some plants. I removed the Cosmos plants from the last of the 3 planters around the cash machine close to our block of flats. They were still flowering but I need to plant the last of the Daffodils and put in some Pansies.
My son brought some spent compost and we dumped it in the planter. My granddaughter helped me pull out the Cosmos plants.

I see you have got something that I have not got,Balc2,a granddaughter.I have two grandsons and a great grandson. This morning I pulled more plants from the front garden.I had 7 sacks full of these plants and I took them to the allotment and put them on the compost. The bay that was nearly full is now full to the top so the next ones will have to go in the one I forked over yesterday.Did a bit more weeding. Took Rosemary for a walk this afternoon.

This morning I finished pulling plants from the front garden and filled another 4 sacks. It needs weeding and tidying up now.Rather than carrying on with this or going to the allotment I decided to start planting my tubs and other containers. They had all been emptied before but they needed topping up.I added some Q4 fertiliser to the compost left in the tubs and mixed it up then topped them up with fresh compost. I then went to our local garden centre for some more plants and bulbs.I was diappointed that they had hardly any bulbs left and they had plenty last time I went.I wanted some tulips but they had only one pack and no packs of daffodils, only a few loose ones in a tray.I got some trays of bellis, wallflowers and sweet Williams.some small conifers and some ivy for the baskets.I already had some trays of polyanthus and some pansies and violas that Heather bought for the rockery but didn't use. I did a bit of planting when I got home and also this afternoon but didn't have time to finish them.

This morning I took the 4 bags of plants to the allotment and put them on the compost then carried on weeding the "others" bed.At Blackleach this afternoon I cut down some perennials on the border. When I got home I planted all the plants that I got from the garden centre and those I had from before in my tubs and other containers but I am a few short. Will have to go for a few more, probably tomorrow.

It was drizzly much of the day so I didn't go on the allotment to do any jobs but I just called for some leeks because Martyn wanted some. There were only three left so I brought them home. I also went to our local garden centre for some more plants and finished planting my tubs and other containers. This afternoon I finished emptying all my hanging baskets ,including three that I planted next door ,and potted up the plants from them that I want to keep.I had also planted some tubs next door with begonias and I took them out and put them under the greenhouse staging along with my others to dry out.

A bit drizzly this morning but dry later. Today was our last day at the hut till next year. When we finished at 12.00 we had the A.G.M. but it didn't last long. I am the Vice chairman but I had to chair the meeting because the chairman couldn't come. Not many people came apart from the four of us who go every Saturday. Now that all my hanging baskets are empty I took the liners out and brushed them and put them in the shed and piled the baskets up neatly and put them away.

The weather is dry now but it has rained nearly all day so I couldn't do any outside jobs.I decided to wash the tomato pots from school in my wheelbarrow under the car port. I brought them home a week or two ago. There were 28.
