I've not done anything today or yesterday! I only took out some trays of Pansies my son had brought round after I asked him to get me a couple of trays a few days ago. seaburn, I didn't know Primulas suffered from Vine Weevils! I didn't notice any in my pots of Primulas when I planted them out last week in one of the planters around the cash machine! Years ago I had an infestation which practically killed my Fuchsias before I recognised the signs.

We chain sawed the Oak logs. Collected a few barrow loads of leaves. Moved about half the soil from the old raised bed to the new. Had a quick look at the seed pots, Iris innominata showing as are something grandiflora (tall grass like leaves, perigrinans is another form), some what I hope are Red cone flower seedlings and Helianthemum. pricking out will have to wait until spring though. Libertia grandiflora by the way.

I pruned my Gooseberry and Redcurrant bushes and cut down the lavender bushes, after my flu which lasted a month. The lavenders will be removed completely when I have more time as I had to cut back into the woody part of the plant. I didn’t know that Gosseberry can layer itself when the branches are very low. I am really pleased as this red variety made beautiful jam as well as being a sweet variety.

I haven't done anything on the balcony but I did go to the planters around the cash machine. My son & granddaughter brought me some spent compost so between us we dumped it in the planter where the Cosmos had been flowering all summer. With my granddaughter's help I pulled up the Cosmos & got rid of them. It was a shame as they still had lots of flowers. Tomorrow I will plant the Daffodil bulbs & then the Pansies on top & that will be it for this year! Though I will probably still take a picture or two each month till they flower properly in the spring when I shall take lots more!

The Boss and I managed to cut down the 20-foot tall dead piece of a Hazel. Shredded the Laurel that had to be removed to get at it and carried the logs etc. down to our neighbours. Took all the debris from the raised bed construction to the tip. Removed a lot of leaves from the guttering on the roof. I will need to get up there when all the leaves have come down and clear it all properly. A nuisance as it means putting the roof ladder together to get up there.

My, you have been busy, geumgrower! You will be grateful for having cleared out some of the leaves now before they start to rot down & make cleaning them out even more difficult later on!

During the morning today I took out the Pansies I'd planted in the pots on the balcony railing, (to put in the planter around the cash machine), & put the new, much bigger ones that are in flower, in their place. As the others had only been in the pots for about 5 days the roots, as I suspected, hadn't yet made it out of their rootballs & into the compost in the pots. So no damage will have happened to them.
Here they are on the balcony railings:
As I had six left over, (my son brought me 3 trays of 6 in each), I put just 1 in each pot on the railings. I wanted to put them somewhere where we could easy see them from the balcony door. I found to 2 clay half pots & a low glazed pot which I put them in. Later when I finish organizing the balcony I will put them in front of the balcony door & then we will be able to enjoy them, from the warmth of the living room, all winter!

looking nice and cheerful balc2 made a start on a revamp for the front garden, took ages chopping out a huge fern that was growing into the wall, cleared a big patch of crocosmia leaves, lastly I butchered a cotinus it was hitting my neighbours and our front window, still a bit more to come off, I'll see if it grows back in the spring, it did say you could coppice it. Cut a lot of it up and bagged it ready for the tip hopefully today
