Don't worry Moonlight, least you won't have about your electricity bill. My little smart meter is doing a quick step around the dial, as we speak . And as Lou says, you'll will soon get going .
Signed up for my first allotment this morning, after getting the once over from the Association chairman. 125 sqm, with shed, and they even rotovate it for you!! Not bad for £23 per year, and £5 association membership. I feel like I've won the pools .
Happy days indeed
Congratulations !!! Enjoy..

That is good news Markymate, £23 a year that's a bargain these days. Now You have two choices. Novice classes or in at the top at Harrogate.

I'll try to make sure I have a pee, before I go to the allotment Moonlight . If not, the bushes will have to suffice.. That's why it's so much easier being a boy .
Your right Tel, choices, choices. I'm going to do The Sandy show at the end of August, and Letchworth on the 12th of September. Now if, and it's blooming big IF, I were to win something at either show, would that exclude me from entering Harrogate, as a novice?? Not sure on that, maybe ian could advise me on that. Should I also think about Wisley, maybe a bit to much, but never say never, they say! At this moment I feel like a kid in a sweet shop, as after a 5 month search, I've finally found a tuber of Rossendale Hero, from a lovely man called Leslie Graham, a NDS judge from Sussex. Just simply a perfect day

@markymate My understanding on the novice class is, wins at shows you mentioned have nothing to do on entries for the Wisley or Harrogate novice classes. You can enter these novice classes year after year, until you win a class, but once you win one of them, you are not classed has a novice anymore, then you have to earn your stripes against the Ian Sutherlands of this world.

erm, changing the subject... So who has entered the Novice classes at the Nationals? Do people normally go straight for their favourite classes or opt to battle it out with the big guns?

Moonlight I got a lot of stock from my society sale I have ordered from ndc and also hapet in Austria got some from friends and some forum members on here. Most of my stock is pot tuber so it's not major space issue. I have got to much but I said I would sort out the lady in my work that is giving me her greenhouse. She loves dahlias and the flashy one's so she will get plants of sorbet, kenora sunset nenkazi for example. Not started mine off yet. Off work the week after next so doing it then. I don't want my plants to Early. So long as I get what I need taken late march early April and rooted by mid April then we are ok time wise. Some of the big growers down here just starting Or not even started. So don't panic. The only things to decide on are my pom I have hapet vinete but not really a show pom. So probably willows violet and also my kiwi and a small semi cactus . @markymate good luck with your allotment I think we will Have a new big player in the dahlia shows soon. You will fit plenty in that plot. Goodluck everyone with your propagation
