Thank you ian great ideas. Will give it a try . With the pot tubers in general are they best planted In the pots into the ground or can they be done in the small pots planted into large pots and you might have 3 or 4 in an 30 litre pot For example Or a trough. These are for stock for 2016. I have done this with begonias before and works well. I might get some other westons for stock plants from my plant sale. Only have pirate but want buccaneer and Spanish dancer would like some of those josudi to try. Do you know where you can source the josudi from ? Many thanks I have done both of those Raymond, I prefer to plant my 3in pots into the ground, I have said this before I call them my dual purpose dahlia's. Stock tubers and blooms for showing. Cheers tel I would plant into the ground but not enough space if I want to give the ground tubers adequate room for growth. Going from 18 to 22 inches apart depending on bloom size . Maybe in the front garden I can squeeze in a few more.

Your tubers don't need to be big to give you lots of cuttings (or blooms for showing). With the amount of storage room you seem to have...pot tubers would be much better for you.

I agree Lou78W pot tubers would be better for me. I will try ian suggestion of the basket pots. Will try a mixture some with some without. I can store tubers it's the amount of space for the set up I don't currently have. All being well I will have the greenhouse or the big shed. With work space For 2016. I also won't be keeping Masses of tubers. Will select the best 2 per variety and I also need to see what me and the ground here grows well. Might well be dumping a large number come end of season. Let's see what happens. That's all I can do for now. Hope your tubers showing signs of life .

Are the basket pots easily broken when you try to remove tuber roots from between the gaps?

Hi Cici the pots are quite easy to cut if needed but I usually just trim them and if the pot does not come off then I just put it on the heat as it is. Most of the time the pots are easily removed and are reusable. Yes the tuber legs do come through the gaps in the basket but most of the tuber is retained within so loosing the odd leg or two is not a problem.
