Thanks for the comments Cat and Lou. Not had much time to look in as rather hectic as you can imagine. 400 orders sent out this week over 4 days and almost 100 put up for collection from the nursery. A number of varieties are holding up the scheduled despatch of some orders-either not enough cuttings or not well enough rooted. Just trying to get them out as quick as we can. Just had another batch of almost 8000 cuttings come down today from our Covington nursery in readiness for next week's orders- the batch was taken between the 1st and 4th April and 90% of them are ready to go out. Looks like another week of early mornings and late nights to get as many out as we can but that's par for the course at this time of year.

Happy with what I've received just waiting on my Tom McClelland.

Well.....I've been to "dahlia heaven" today!!....collected my order from Halls of Heddon this afternoon. and Dave very kindly gave me a quick tour round "the business". Just as well it was quick......my fingers were getting itchy...lol It was fascinating to see how a "dahlia factory" operates....very impressive. Was particularly interested in the bench of trial tubers....some interesting stuff there These days I just grow for pleasure, so not all my purchases were "hot"....they are:- Oretti Bliss; Tom McClelland; Weston Buccaneer; Blyton Softer Gleam (coming by post as the van hadn't arrived) Charlie Briggs; Bishop of Canterbury; Art Deco; Magenta Magic: I had a quick browse in the shop and added.....Dikara Superb; Ruskin Andrea; and Teesbrook Redeye Thanks dahliadave.....I appreciated your time

Lou78W the cut off for me on Jersie is the second of May . Andrew in Kent been propagating it for me and it will be the only time I see him so any extras he gets to keep. I need to learn how to grow all these varieties got my notes but until I put it into practise who knows how I will do. What I must do is enjoy it !!

Well cleared most of the tubers of the bench, if I were to leave them on the bench I would keep on taking cuttings. Up to now I have taken in the region of 2300 cuttings and given away some 300 plants. I have all I need for the season and a few to spare for a couple of plant sales. Most plants are in size 7cm pots should be fine for the next couple of weeks then pot up into size 9cm pots (no bigger I hope) much easier to plant out of no 7 pots. The plot will then need lots of attention to bring it up to planting spec and my slug pallets going on
