It may be strong but I can live without them. Oh and if you think it will affect my judgement as a judge then no you are safe there I will judge as always what I see before me. I still believe Jersie will do very very well but I will not be winning with it and I have 50+ plants. I will not be showing a bloom of it. I can give some of them a new home Ian if you like ! Hehehe If you get any more Raymond you will have to move out and let the dahlias live in the house...lol...

Mine are outside all the time. Put some fleece over them tonight as I can feel a bit of a chill in the air. Need to pot on a good few . Into 4 and five in pots and the ones in peat pots into 3 inch pots. Will do that Thursday as off and rain forecast.

Any laterals showing? What is the variety ? How many pairs of leaves are on the plant?
Depends when you want the main plant to flower as to what you do next.

Hi, yeah there is plenty laterals showing...never known this before so early...I could pinch it back to the first 4 laterals, I don't want early blooms really. late August through to latish September would be fine...The variety is Bonaventure

Let it flower as it is. That'll slow it down a bit. I've got Bonaventure that aren't showing laterals, I won't be stopping them for at least 10 days as I want them mid August.
In your case, after flowering, pinch it back to those 4 laterals. You may be lucky and it may hold back to late August, but I think they'll be ready earlier. In which case you could try it on a wing bud.

I think that I've pretty much finished with my seedlings, I don't think that any more are going to come up now. Almost all have grown big enough to be planted out of their seed tray cells and into small pots. I've been lucky this year only a handful with white leaves and a couple of Marston George have had leaves that are not developing properly the baby leaves have some how fused together rather than opening properly. Not a problem tho because I've got loads. Tubers have not taken and cuttings after all so I am going to just re-plant the Tubers.

Picked up the dahlias from hall's today, they look spot on with a couple of free poms, lakeland polly, to add to the pom collection.

I know this may be a long shot but does anyone have any Nulands Josephine cuttings they could send me? I ordered some from Halls but I suspect they could not support as I got sent a substitute. I have grown it for a few years but lost my tubers of it this winter.
Many thanks. Simon.

Started planting out , got bottom nets on two beds and planted 120 out before planting used the Stan Pennington method of dipping them in insecticide all plant covered, they where all clean but not taking any chances.
