I am going to change the layout (again) of mini and small Dec (+ Mary's / Jo) Plant size wise in my experience Mary's + Jo have been very big plants. How do Barbarry Pip, Marston Lilac and Tel Wyn's Favourite compare? Any notably plants on the smaller size? Like Trooper and Oakwood Goldcrest - as there is no point in growing them where they won't be able to be seen.

Marston lilac 3.5 - 4ft Thanks Tel What about Blyton Golden Girl and Barbarry Surprise? In my head it must be so much easier when people grow large numbers of individual beds varieties. Me, 1 plant per area and I'm trying to contrast the yellows with the deep dark colours and the smalls to the side of the miniatures. I want to include the Mary's / Jo for their 'similarities to typical Decorative' dahlias, rather than with my Ball dahlias. I went them to the back and the side of the Decs. If they are any good I will have to exhibit them. At local show any way. At local show, I can have 2 entries per class and for the Ball classes, I want to use 1 Mary's / Jo for the small class + 1 Blyton Golden Girl (1 single bloom class and 1 vase of 3 bloom class). Minature will probably more than likely double entries of Mary's / Jo, not sure if Clearview Daniel is up to much or Sheila but if I do have a stunning Downham Royal I'll enter that.
This bit is the really fun and yet really frustrating bit.
The harder part is yet to come.

I hope no one loses any plants, with the strong winds that are forecast.

I hope no one loses any plants, with the strong winds that are forecast. Fortunately mine are still in the cold frames Tel. Won't be ready for planting for a week or two. I put extra weights on the tops as there's going to be 50mph gusts. May has been poor weather wise, cold wet and windy. Just got to wait for June to kick in properly!

The harder part is yet to come. Tel "" And Marston George is little as well. How tall would you say that was? I just think of it as 'small size'. Time for yet another rethink.

I know this has been asked before so I apologise but I have done a forum search without success.
What would be a recommended spray either one off or regular to use on the plants to keep all the beasties away. I am suffering with green and black fly at the moment but thinking also for the ear wigs later.
Many thanks.
