Andrea and Zoe minimum of 10 up, lightly disbudded. Depends on soil though as some grow them 14 up. Brenda I grow 8 up. Diane I grow 5 -6 up.

I am running Andrea on a double stop 12 to 14 up MarkE and zoe single stop around 13 to 14 up. This is what I was advised for down here. Let's see what happens. Plants are motoring now. Hillcrest jersie , kelsea Carla, wyns favourite, Mary's jomanda and some trial kiwi all in now. Just senzoe, Diane , dikara superb , pirate and some trial one's and the seedlings to do. Will all be finished by Thursday. Plants getting very big very quickly in this heat. Then to sort the pot tubers and the rest of the garden ! Eek !

I have a Joan Walker and a Wyn's Favourite, with a premature flower on. if they both show pollen together, maybe early seed.

I have a Mary's jomanda and a kenora sunset opening tel ! Not a nice cross ! Hehehe I have taken so many buds off . Both wyns, all dikara superb, all the senzoe, most Mary's , most of the zoe and some candy. Letting the one Mary's flower and looks a lighter pink than when I saw it before. Quite lilac in tone.

Hope your dahlias are ok MarkE . Almost finished planting now. Would have finished today but had to go help one of the elder society members finish his planting out. He has had pneumonia and is struggling on so got his last 20 in for him . He gave me a couple of his seeedling to try as a thank you and one is very promising a second year collarette. On way home get another 20 in before it gets dark.

That was a nasty sharp frost last night touched a few leaves on the dahlias, not as bad as the guy in next allotment as it decimated his potatoes

It's the opposite here. So warm everything is budding up. Took buds off all the winholm Diane today. In the home stretch need to go to gc and buy more compost almost out of levington m3 and John innes no 3. Got all the winholm Diane in tonight in 25 or 30 litre pots. need more canes as well. Tel wyns favourite is already 2.5 foot it is a big plant. Its full support canes and first ties in as it is so big.

:)Aww.....yu are kind @raymond He has been good to me Lou and a lovely man. Lost his wife not long ago. I have offered to dig in the manure into the bed in the autumn as he can't do it any more. He mentioned it needs it. What amazed me is the amount of large stones in his plot and he still produces some cracking dahlias. Gave me some great tips today. Came home with 3 Claire de lune, 1 Anne breckenfelder, 2 kilncroft Becka his raising that Dave Spencer propagated for him and a first year seedling. Binned some plants not happy with so these will replace them.
