Lou, I'm curious... why put the pots on their sides if they are inside?

Lou, I'm curious... why put the pots on their sides if they are inside? Hi Cici, to allow the water to drain away.

Well season 2015 is well and truly over. Got all my 72 Dahlias in plus the 20 on my neighbours plot. All washed, trimmed, cored, labelled, dipped in fungicide and drying nicely on mesh trays. I only need to further dry them then get them in boxes of dry peat then super insulate them in the main shed. Just been down to cover them up for the night as we're looking at minus 1 later. Plot looking very bleak and empty and not many other horticulturists on there today!
Happy Tubers
250 Clean bundled Canes
Empty Dahlia patch

I found those trays in the street your honour. that's my story and I'm sticking to it haha Joking aside there's a catering firm next door to our plots and we've all had plenty of bread/cake mesh trays off them, very handy. Have you got your 600+ Dahlias up yet Ian? Sounds like a good weeks work minimum.

Hi Lou, they are doing no harm at all in the ground for now (trouble is at this time of the year working and three foster children it's finding the time). Ah well if I havnt got them I will manage or grow less.

Ye gods @davidv ! I've just been boasting in my blog about getting my roofgarden and greenhouses tidy and organised. But it's NOTHING compared to the work you have done. Well done !
Are you by any chance retired ? (or at least, not currently working 9-5 ? )
