And to think that I am overwhelmed by just 1 tree trunk! Need to clear the space to find a home for these lovely beauties. I went to the plant sale to buy a Oakwood Goldcrest, came home with Cherwell Goldcrest, a Pirate, Sir Alf, Valentine, Willo's Violet, Hillcrest Candy and as per family tradition HH picked one for me, A Challenger, a Kenora Challenger. He has great taste.

Also just because he has Lots doesn't mean that he'll have Lots at the end. Anything not good enough is compost straight away. He is very particular about what he keeps. If had the nicest fim in the world, it wouldn't make year 2, if the petal count is too low or the petals don't go all the way back then that's a compost to. It wouldn't get chance to spread its DNA. A lot of my Bill seedlings could have some of my rejected plant DNA because I didn't do that. Too soft as they were my first seedlings. I have 3 times as many this year but who knows I might have even less or even none kept for their first Birthday. Fingers Crossed.

Its all a game of chance really isn't it. I find that quite exciting....not knowing if they are going to be any good. Its a pity you can't tell from the foliage if a seedling is going to be a "good 'un"...it would save a lot of time !..lol

I saw a picture on a USA site of the great late geordie leroux of the kenoras plot. Crammed in amazing what he produced. I hope you and your dad get some great seedlings to take into the second year. Let's see what my six collarettes bring. I spoke to John who gave me the seed and he insists they are for me. He has had many seedlings in the past and has a lovely new white one He has high hopes for. Like ste b I love that staleen seedling very my taste. I will have carstun suntan next to kenora sunset I wonder what that would produce ? Moonlight did you hand pollinate any ? Or just the bees ?

Rather full on few days and a lot of unhappiness at work, I've found retreating to the greenhouse to pot up seedlings into pots quite therapeutic. Only a few more April seedlings left to be potted up. It all looks very colourful in the greenhouse and that's just the pots and plant labels!
