Our hedgies seem to be back, I caught what looked like 2 different ones on the infra-red camera during last night, they seemed to visit several times right up to 5.45am this morning- must be hungry. I put the camera out as I'd seen hedgehog poo on the lawn last week.

I've got one coming in, it's leaving its calling card round near the birdfeeder, but I've yet to see it. Good picture of the hogs backside

I can't remember exactly roofgardener, I think it was around £100 from Maplins who have since disappeared but there are different ones available. Mine runs off 4 AA batteries which don't last a very long time if you put it out every night but I tend to put it out when the weather is calm & not too cold or wet as if it's windy it takes photos of every swaying piece of grass/plant etc. & the lens tends to cloud up or blur in frost or rain. You can set a timer on it & adjust how many pics. it takes or set it for short videos instead but the quality of the video is not great. Well worth it to see what visits your garden at night though.

I’m on a mission to go my best from this year for our beleaguered hedgehogs. An appropriate shelter, food, water and garden-garden access corridors. We used to get them annually, but no traces in recent years.

We've definitely got 2 hedgehogs visiting, caught them together on the infra-red camera last night:-

Yours are probably still around grindle, they may be busy starting families, I'm not sure if our 2 are 'friends' or not, we were in the garden last night & could hear lots of grunting & 'chatting' going on between them & there are 2 on the camera from around then but later there seemed to be just one on it's own visiting.

Little bit worrying yesterday morning as one of our hedgehogs was out in daylight. It looked O.K. though, it was moving easily & looked healthy, maybe it had just woken up for some reason & felt hungry as it nibbled around the food trays & then wandered off through the border down to the 'wild' area at the end of the garden where the hedgehog house & woodland plants are.

She came back the following day at lunchtime again for a feed, a hedgehog rescue site thinks she may be a nursing mum coming out for a break from the babies to refuel & get some frsh air & water & I've seen a few other posts with the same daytime visits. I think she may be nesting at the end of the garden under the ivy tree where I've let some grass & nettles etc. grow for the wildlife, it doesn't look like the leaves in the entrance of the hedgehog house have been moved but she could be using that or just in the undergrowth. I bumped into her last night around 9.15 as well when it was still light, she looked like she was heading for a water bowl down there. This was the lunchtime visit :-

The hedgehogs are getting a bit frisky, two were caught on camera last night, not very good quality video & as they were backwards & forwards all night it's worn the batteries in the camera out.
