First dahlia of the season rather scorched . Great colour . Matilda Houston dwarf from halls. Still in a four inch pot planting out tomorrow let this one flower come and pinched the others out.

My first Mary's jomanda. This one was being pot tubered but found a touch more space so will cut it off and plant it out in the front. What do you think ian Tel scrumpy ste b is the centre correct ? It is undersize but I expect that this early and no feed.

Hi Raymond nice colour the centre isn't finished yet it is open (green ) at the moment the other problem with growing outside is the split petal to the left of the bloom. But it is only the first bloom get a few more growing then you will be into better blooms. Great to see early blooms a great sign of things to come. Keep up the good work Raymond.

Just like Ian say's, the centre is not there yet, I would be taking the odd split or damaged petal out at least 24 hours before a show, to give the bloom chance to close the gap. Nice to see the first blooms Raymond.

A very young kenora sunset. Always wanted to grow this dahlia. Only allowed the one flower to come. Only just over miniature . This plant is a cracker Ac Abby . Super healthy looking and darker foliage which I like. Hope the blooms are nice. Medium cactus .

Hi Raymond your Mary's is a bit loose in the petal and centre is a bit young , but June and early July blooms are always like that' , what I like is your even colour looks like you have good stock .

The stock came from Andrew a in Kent ste b . Had a look at the bloom tonight centre almost right now. Letting this one do it so I can see for myself. It is fully dressed back although a little loose at the back as you say. ian it looks a Dec to me ! Hehehe It is knowing when they are ready only ever grown for display and that was only first time last year. I checked with my dad my mother did grow some dahlias back in Scotland many years ago. Not many though.

Kenora sunset fully open . Undersized , poor depth , damaged, faded, bad centre and tucked in the foliage. Apart from all that I love it ! Hehehe What is promising is it looks proper bi colour not some of the washed out one's you see. Will take it off tomorrow .

Well nice to see you can see most of the faults in the bloom Raymond you are coming on He he. No weight in the bloom short of petal but wait until they had reached the feed and had more TLC and blooming on a proper lateral then you will see a difference.
I have got to say it is one of the better Bi-coloured Dahlias Kenora Sunset, and of course if shown in a medium semi class along side of other Medium semis, the fact that the colours cannot be matched up cannot or should not be considered as a fault when judging, so if you are happy with the form, center, depth etc. then there is no reason why it should not be competing with the rest for a place.
Happy days

I hope to see a good one from this dahlia ian . A personal favourite of mine. Doubt I will show it only one plant. I have this strike a light bred by Ken stock. Kenora sunset is one of the parents. Will be interesting to see if it matches up to it. Well anyway nice to have had a couple of blooms early. Even if rubbish one's. Hahaha
