Dianthus and Lou, Basket is not mine but couldn't resist getting a pic! All Dahlias there were top notch and I was happy with my 2 thirds in small catus and min dec. well done David. Where is your next show? Woolston show near Warrington on Sunday Diggie. It's one of those old fashioned shows with a Marquee and various stalls round a field. More of a fun show, only 1 Dahlia category and 2 entries max. There's an interesting class, '1 flower and 1 vegetable' which I'd like to see at every show. Last time I put in a Butternut squash and a s cactus Dahlia on a short stem for a 1st. They had a Falconry display last time too which was spectacular. I had to join their society, their trading hut has the cheapest fertilizers I've seen. wdhs.yolasite.com/

Yes I had a lucky win at the North West Dahlia Society show winning the championship from nine entries, four vases of Dahlias are required to make up the class won by 12 points the vase of five Gurtla Twilight scored 23/30 hehe.
Steve the man to watch came third, he is about to enter his first Individual championship at the National at Wisley nest Tuesday and I think he has a very good chance to get in the cards and that could be red. So fingers crossed Steve good luck mate.
Good luck to everyone else about to show at the National or anywhere else this coming weekend.

I don't think it was a lucky win it was a good entry them gurtla twilight where superb, thought you where packing them Poms in its about time you did hehe, I think am a few seasons off getting a strong entry in the individual championship got to learn to grow some varieties better than I am doing , but that's the challenge I like will after change some feeding methods and play around with a few buds, when you do get them the way you want and the flowers open up its a great feeling and just as good as going to any show .

Rob H have you just woke up the Northwest show was yesterday (Wednesday) hehe.
Steve thanks for the positive comments
Ian K being 12 points ahead there could have been two or even three letterboxes hehe where are you showing next and how did Darlington show go?
It's Keithley show on Saturday but best of all its Chipping (in Lancashire) show on Sunday the highlight of the year a fantastic show sometimes called a mini Harrogate show the quality right through is excellent with many many National growers and Champions competing. The prizes are also excellent. So if you want to see if you can compete against National growers come on down you will be treated Royally, with plenty of tea and coffee, bacon and sausage butties whilst staging

Sorry for delay in posting these photos - haven't been able to trawl through and edit photos, especially with back to work but I have 3 to share.
I was asked to add a bit more info. I won the Intermediate challenge 2 vases of 3 blooms, with a a vase of 3 Gurtla Twilight and 3 Weston Pirate, I won the intermediate miniature vase of 3 with another vase of 3 Weston Pirate. I won the single bloom class for miniature semi/cactus with a Weston Pirate. I won the intermediate class for poms with a vase of 3 Moor Place and one with a Moor Place in the pom single bloom class. I came 2nd in the Miniature Dec single bloom class with Marston George. I entered a seedling but I didn't get placed with but the fact that I was able to enter one made me very proud. The close ups of the Moor Place and Marston George were not up to it. Sorry it is so late.

Well done at the Ramsbottom show @davidv and ian. And well done ste b and ian again at the North West show. You must be chuffed to bits (round here that's a complement - don't know about other parts of the country).
