I don't even know what 'caponised cockerel' IS, dianthus... nor am I familiar with the Sky movies advert. (I don't have that channel). You really don't like turkey ??

Google 'capon' Roofy. will be easier than me writing the procedure here. The male gardeners may be wincing too much, you see
I hate turkey, and avoid eating restaurant roasts as the chefs douse them in turkey gravy, too

My philosophy is, they can eat lots of other greenery, fruit etc, but they are not to have my precious veggies and salad leaves.

We has our Carol Service at Church yesterday and it was lovely. I'm looking forward to the Kings' College Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve - that is when my Christmas really begins. I am not bothered about food much to be honest. There is usually too much of it around anyway.

We have a Turducken for Christmas dinner and no christmas pud, hate the stuff. We always have a huge fruit salad and this year I'll be making pavlova also a chocolate and raspberry tart.

I used to make fruit salads for some of the supermarket chains, so bought lots of lovely fruits to make a large bowl full at Mum's. We started to munch through it for breakfast on the 25th, to leave plenty of room for lunch four hours later. I could tell you now, what happened every hour over the day, as nothing altered, for years and years, apart from my addition of taxi duties adding to the kitchen chores the whole morning. I missed a lot of present unwrapping, too!

MUDDY two shoes if you don`t mind. Just chuck them over the fence. As for wasps, they eat more aphids than ladybirds do.

I am having Christmas Dinner with my young son and his partner in Aberdeen. It will be a large roast chicken I think because Natasha is on call at the vet. She took over the Christmas cake making and my recipe, as I found I was just making it for Geoffrey. Geoffrey has made mince for mince pies. He surprised me. I did not think he had it in him. However, he is waiting for me to make the pastry. He has the ingredients for Tirimisu too which I have to make. The recipes are on this forum, but not the cake.
Here comes Steven playing the pipes. They sound great.

Even though I am agnostic we ALL need to remember Britain is, first and foremost, a Christian country. Happy Holidays Dai! Just kidding, lets face it religion is an afterthought for most at this time of year. As for a for a Christian country, in 50 years time that may not be the case any more, you'll need a compass and a prayer mat....

Isn't lovely and refreshing after a big dinner Cat Very refreshing, although we usually put in black cherries (turns the juice a funky colour!!!) But Morrison's have stopped selling them in juice and I can't be bothered to go 15 miles round trip just for cherries lol

That sounds lovely Cherry , hope you enjoy your meal. We had some mince pies at the weekend from an old fashioned bakery we go to sometimes in Alderley Edge, they were the best ones we've ever had & the mincemeat in them tasted homemade - I've made some mince pies myself this year with the lemon icing on top again but next year I think I'll just order a load from that bakery!
